who has the best shot at bama (if undefeated at season's end)

if alabama goes undefeated along with kstate, ND, and oregon who has the best chance to knock them off. keep in mind i am not asking who you WANT to go to the title, but which team is most capable of knocking them off.

I think my pick would be oregon. they are known for their offense, but their defense holds their own pretty well too. although i still think bama would win, this would be an offense like they have not seen before and may cause unexpected issues. kstate and nd, are vanilla offensively and bama has too many horses to get beat in the trenches by kstate or nd. bama would win at the LOS and subsequently win the game. oregon doesn't need to as tough up front because they go so fast and spread the ball out so well.

    thoughts?

Re: who has the best shot at bama (if undefeated at season's end)

After seeing ND shut down OU I have to say ND is the only team that would have a chance. No matter what, Alabama is going to allow very few points to whoever they play and ND is the only team equipped to keep the Alabama offense in check.

Oregon a few years ago couldn't score on Ohio State in the Rose Bowl and couldn't score on Auburn in the title game. Their gimmick won't work against an elite defense.

Oregon would have no shot. A defensive minded team has the best shot.

I think patience is what is required to beat Alabama.

Because of that, I pick K-State. They are just a sound football team on both sides of the ball, have a level headed QB, don't beat themselves, do all the little things right, and an outstanding game coach.

I think Notre Dame and Kansas State both could give Alabama hell. Play physical with them up front and you have a chance. Don't and you'll get bulldozed.

I think Oregon could also put up a fight. The problem is Alabama's schedule is softer than butter and they get a month to prepare for a bowl game. Their coaching staff is one of the best in the country and will shut down damn near anybody with a month of prep.

Can't say it much better. Their style of play is so methodical that it can almost goad the other team into making mistakes.

Re: who has the best shot at bama (if undefeated at season's end)

I don't like k-State against them. K-State was pretty good last year too and was exposed by Arkansas badly in the Cotton Bowl. I realize that K-State is better this year but Alabama is much better than Arkansas from a year ago.

I don't believe their defense is for real until they play a few folks with a pulse.

stats back up your theory too. can't remember exactly what the stat is, but national champions have always had a top 20 defense or something like that. where does oregon rank though? they aren't a bad defensive team.

I think Notre Dame has the best defense so I give them the edge. K-State does have a unique offense that might rattle Alabama's defense. I would give Oregon the least shot.

They have played 3 pretty good offenses, Arizona is top 5 I believe and they shut them out.
