    Question about a rule

During the first FG try at the end of the game, did anyone else notice that CU had several players still running off the field? I was wondering if that is why the ref was waiting to whistle the ball into play. It did seem like CU's offensive line was set for the FG try with about 1-2 seconds left, but there were clearly too many men on the field. Is that one of the things that a ref looks at before he starts the next play? Do we have any refs out there?

There weren't any refs on the field so I would be surprised if there are any on the board.

    Re: Question about a rule

By rule the white hat is supposed to blow the ready for play when the ball is set by the umpire and the down marker has been moved by the head linesman. As far as the players on the field it was chaos.

The Ref and the umpire are to count the offense. The will give each other the closed fist signal to confirm. I can say that at that point there are to many things going on to count players that are running off the field near the sidelines.

    Ref duties

    whistle ball ready for play
    count offense
look for illegal shifts illegal motion false start and illegal snaps
    look for holding
look for roughing the kicker and or holder

    Anybody want to be ref?

I thought they did a pretty good job saturday except for the no call on Blythe
