    Northeastern US prepares for "Frankenstorm" (LINK)

    Forecasters are worried that a hurricane and winter storm cause cause havoc on the Northeast US..

    Of course in only in 2012 that this could happen, right?

    I'm supposed to fly from BWI to MCO this Friday night, and then back on Sunday evening.

    Scale of 1-10, how screwed am I, and should I just not do this ere I'm stuck in Florida until Thursday? :/

    I think you'll squeak by. You could have a delay, depending on where the outer bands are, on the way back but the storm is still pretty far away at that point.

    I'm flying to Philadelphia monday afternoon. It looks like I'll get in before the storm, and then have to deal with its mess trying to leave on Thurs.... yippee.

    Since when are Meteorologists experts in damage assessments, much less predictive damage assessments several days out.

    Its could conceivably be people working in the same department with the meteorologists, or meteorologists who have a particular focus on damaging events like this. If nothing else you can use past storms to judge how much potential damage there could be.

    Well when you look at past storms in major cities it really isn't that big of a stretch: October Snowstorm Adds to 2011's Billion Dollar Weather Disasters | Climate Central

    I agree that the meteorologist should stick with things that they are suppose to predict. I don't know what $1 billions dollars in damage looks like but I can visualize what a foot of snow could probably do.
