Question FB Season Tickets Req'd For Neb vs ISU - OK?

I was talking with a fellow CF'er on Saturday night about this and thought I'd post it to see what everybody's reaction would be...

Ongoing we'll alternate Iowa and Nebraska at home for Football. My guess and personal feeling is that Pollard is going to use the same approach for ticket sales for the games - season tickets required, no single-game tickets available.

Would the fans approve or disapprove of the same approach for the Nebraska game? I personally think Nebraska fans would snatch up the tickets at any price and there would be no downside outside of the usual reason of some ISU fans only wanting to see that big marquee games. Why not force Nebraska fans to help our program if they want to see the game?

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

I love it, considering most of the people I know and myself are getting season tickets. So why not make husker/hawk fans pay a little extra, you know they will show up no matter what so why not make some more money in the process. When I was at the ISU/Iowa game this year the funnest part was talking to Hawk fans who were mad that they had to buy season tickets just to see this game, absolutely made my day.

The good news is we already have 36K + in season tix. Those holders have dibs on their seats. And JP has previously stated somewhere around 40K is the max for seasons. Now I don't expect 4K in NU season ticket holders. But I do expect to see a nice leap in ISU fans.

Trying to remember. Is there a time lag between renewals and new season purchases? I meanm we have to have our renewals in by end of Feb right? Can new orders (not existing holders getting additional seats) order that early too? Or does that not open up until AFTER renewals?

It would be nice if that 36K grew to 38K or so of our own renewals, closing the door a bit for NU fans. We're thinking about growing from 2 tickets to 4. I'd wager plenty of others are likewise. Especially if we play well this weekend. Expecations and excitement will be (right or wrong) off the hook for next season.

No, I don't believe there were that many iowa season ticket holders so I'm not expecting a monumental drop off in renewals from that.

Edit: Sorry, I voted "yes", although I think we're closer to the day where we won't need to hold games hostage. Sort of what I was getting at.

I figured the poll would be pretty clear. There is no downside and we saw how well the plan worked against Iowa - great crowd and there were very few Iowa fans there anyways.

I see the season ticket thing happening again next season. After a two year viewing of this ploy Pollard will see how it worked. (I think it was great this season) I have a feeling it will continue for the foreseeable future.

I believe there were 3 games this season that had higher attendance then the Iowa game. I think the last two did not which when the team is 1-8 and 2-8 I can kind of understand. Compared to years past though the attendance has been beyond great this year. Good showing Clone fans!

I was actually hoping to use the Nebraska game as a trip for clients. I would like to get a tent and about 300 tickets.

Well I quess there are other events and that way I would still make it to the CF Tailgate.

I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone.

Re: FB Season Tickets Req'd For Neb vs ISU - OK?

When you look at the last couple wins and the possibility of the large numbers of season tickets those wins retained, I think you almost have to make this game a season-ticket game only.

What have the last 2 wins meant for us? 1k retained? 2k? 3k or more?

I think somewhere in the middle and that's huge. Tack on those wins being significantly helped via some young talent (Arnaud, Robinson, Hamilton, both Smiths, Parker, etc)...there aught to be a lot of buzz and excitement for next season.

I'll be interested to see how the re-seating goes. Several people are will have to drastically increase their donation to keep their seats. Will we lose some ticket holders because of this increase? Probably. But season ticket prices should go down next year with only 6 home games so that may be enough to increase the total season ticket sales...especially since Nebraska fans travel (and spend) very well.

Honestly, I am not sure how much it will matter anymore. With the buzz generated at the end of the year, we should be able to get another 2-4k next year, and that will fill all the permanent seats. 46k - 4k - holdback == 40k possible season tickets.

it's nice to see that a lot of people who ponied up this year and bought season tix for the first time(myself included) continued to go out to the games at the end of the season. after the texas game, i almost cashed it in. thank god i didn't-what a great way for these seniors to go out. hopefully, like isufan22 says, these last few games will transition into renewed season tickets and maybe even pull a few more out of the woodwork.

Re: FB Season Tickets Req'd For Neb vs ISU - OK?

Nebraska fans had to buy season tickets for the USC game last year to go and USC stopped selling them tickets because they were buying so many.

Lets take their money and give them any season tickets we don't sell.

I'm not sure we'll lose that many people, but I do think a number of folks will have to take different seats because they're not able to or unwilling to increase their donation. I'm hoping we can get some better seats in our section as a result, but it would please me even more if we were unable to as everyone came back.

Just to maintain 36,000 all of the Hawk fans with season tickets would have to be replaced with Cornhusker season ticket holders...I don't know if I see that happening? That and what will the outlook be like for Cornhusker football next year after the state of the program this year?
