What is stickum? My guess: some pine tar-like substance that allows receivers to grip the ball better?

correct. It's used for baseball bats still I believe and is used in the pros.

Those sticky gloves that are legal (and weren't around 10 years ago) should give them plenty enough of an advantage in catching passes.

That's not stickum - they just jacked off a bunch of elephants before the game.

I don't think stick um is going to help the Chargers with the real problem. Real Problem = Philip Rivers

I still don't understand what the big deal is. They allow receivers to wear gloves. They have all kinds texture to aid in the grip on the ball. That's all stickum ever was. Granted, a lot of those guys took it to the extreme, but I wish our guys would give it a try once in a while.

    Re: Chargers like stickum?

Players like Fred Biletnikoff would cover themselves with it so as long as they got the ball against their body it would help them hold it.
After it was banned many years ago, Ahmad Rashad of the Vikings would "accidently" spill coke on his towel and rub his hands on it before each play to make his hands a little stickier.
