    Okie State fans.

Not sure any of them are still lurking, but I was pleasantly surprised how nice everyone down there was before and after the game. It made our team not showing up much more of a pleasant trip. I was able to go to a few bars after the game and have good chats with people who were actually impressed I wasn't too upset to be out partying along. The stadium is absolutely beautiful, but with that said the only disappointment I had was how unenthusiastic the crowd was, reaction to pump up songs, general noise. Etc. it got loud a few times but for such a beautiful stadium and a recently successful team, it was kind of sad.

I wish we had the money to make Jack Trice into that kind of venue because our crowd would light that place up.

Great people and town though, I'll be back.

All that said, I'll stick with a Jack Trice environment and our tailgating any day.
Hope we can pull one out and get our **** together for homecoming to restore some hope and excitement.

Likewise, we were treated very well and Stillwater is a great gameday experience. we paid $10 and parked 4 blocks from stadium. Lots of shops and bars 2-3 blocks from stadium.

    Re: Okie State fans.

I had a mix. Mostly positive. Got a beer from a tailgate in the morning (though their amount of tailgating was disappointing. i know its an 11am game, but at 9am you should be up and running), got beers bought for us at eskimo joe's in the afternoon.

Did have some ******* poke fan start with something like 'at least the hawks are still doing good, being that its the hawkeye state... no one even knows who Iowa State is'...

I would agree on their general lack of excitement both in and out of the stadium. They showed up really late (and people complain about here!), though they filled in fairly well.

Overall though i'd love to go back, and next time plan early enough that i can stay in stillwater for at least one night of the trip.

I agree on staying in Stillwater. Ponca city was a trash hole and we were the only Iowa state fans at our hotel and the bars Friday night, the people were nice there. But all OU fans or didn't care about football at all.

    Re: Okie State fans.

Totally different experience for me. I was in the middle of OSU central, and it was ridiculous. I thought we had the market cornered on complaining about the refs but not so. They whined the whole game, even when it was obviously out of reach. It was kind of sad. And the lady in front of me was just non-stop"You ruined our season last year and now were going to let you have it." She spun me a yarn about how every football player was best friends with the womens basketball team's coaches. I don't want to diminish the tragedy, but ********. I have seen a kid go out on the mat during an NCAA championship match and win a title with a broken leg. you can use tragedy to motivate or as a crutch, it is your choice. All we did was keep them from getting humiliated by their former coach on national TV in front of the nation.

Like always, it is a mixed bag, but I think with their recent run of success, OSU is starting to get more t-shirt fans than usual, and thats when the d-bags come out.

Since I was coming in from Texas, we stayed in Guthrie. It is oneof the nicest towns in Oklahoma, and if you don't mind going a little out of the way(it is closer to Stillwater, but on the southern side, than Ponca) I would stay there.

    Re: Okie State fans.

I've said it multiple times, but of all the fans I have ever met Oklahoma State fans have always been the best.

They seem to be the most like us. Down to earth, friendly, and not full of themselves. I'm glad they have been doing well recently.

Unless a little bit of success turns them into ****heads, you'll never have much trouble with Oklahoma State fans.

    Re: Okie State fans.

All the OSU fans we encountered were nice enough.

However, I'm not sure why the OSU fans still get to pound those paddles against the wall given the new Big 12 rule. They were definitely doing it while ISU was at the LOS, and a few times after the snap, and all game long. That is definitely against the new rule, and apparently there was no warning or attempt to stop it.

If OSU doesn't want to enforce the new rule, that's fine, but then the security came and took Horn Guy's horn away for making a little bit of noise when ISU had the ball. Pretty lame...

Very lame they took away the horn. Wasn't very impressed with our turn out but had a good time in the parents and visitors section. View wasn't good and their scoreboards are hard to see but everyone stayed positive and made the best of it.

I would think it would be pretty awkward to be sitting near parents of players, especially ones who wear the jerseys, when their sons aren't playing well and fans are starting to complain about them.

That was maybe 10 rows behind us - I wondered why the horn was a no-no, but those paddles are OK?

Was happy to see the security staff pull the way-beyond-drunk guy out in the front row of the visitors' section. The one guy even explained to the surrounding fans that they knew he wasn't being rowdy or out of control, that they'd watched him and were more concerned w/ his safety (like not letting him die from alcohol poisoning.)

Where I was standing no one really got into that. Frustration, sure. It was hard not to voice out certain frustrations at times but everyone is a pretty good sport, at least for this game.
