Nice write-up, I agree that the offense is the key to every game for ISU...not just this one. This game is one that gives Barnett and co a good chance of playing well since OSU doesn't have a dominating D

    J.W. Walsh: 70-for-1076, 2052 yards, 9 TD's & 3 INT's with 2 rushing TD's

    Pretty low completion percentage, eh?

I believe it should be 70/107 cmp % and 1052 yards.

I wonder if ISU will put Jantz out there at all. Not trying to bring up a debate, but it seems like that talk all week long has been who will play for OSU at QB. OSU is all to familiar with Barnett from what he did to them last year and there is of course that whole "revenge" factor. I wouldn't mind Jantz getting a drive in 3rd Q to switch things up/force OSU to guard more of the field if OSU stacks the box against Jared.

What gives you this fallacious thought? If we don't have a good D, you don't either.

Iowa State is rated the 5th best defense in the conference. OSU? We're rated 6th. You allow 342 yards per game, we allow just 28 more yards, at 370.

Now offenses. That's where there is some separation. We're #1 in the conference and #1 in the nation. We tally 601 yards per game. You? You're dead last in the conference and 99th out of 124 in the nation, only gaining 343 yards per game.

We'll give you your 28 fewer yards on defense, and keep our 258 yards on offense.

Does that make sense to you? Does to me.

Don't you even try to act like a systematic evaluation of evidence could mean anything. Just go with fear instead. Be intimidated.

OK. I get it. So we currently average roughly 49 points a game. So when you do yeoman's work on defense and lose 38 to 21 (but hold us to 11 points under our average) you're going to feel good about yourselves?

I'm not being a smart ***, I really would like to hear your answer.

I notice that you joined about this time, last year. And you probably thought OSU was going to win last year behind your super amazing offense. Now, fast forward 1 year. What have you learned?

The teams you have beaten have a combined record of 5-13. Those 5 wins came against Lamar, Troy, Florida International, Tulane, and South Dakota State.

The teams we have beaten have a combined record of 18-7. Some of those wins were even against teams I've heard of. Virginia, Baylor, Michigan State, Fresno State, Minnesota.

Does that include the 17,479 against Savannah State?

C'mon STP, don't sell yourself short. You're clearly being a GIGANTIC smart ***.

My answer would be that Iowa State's offense has faced much better defenses (UI, TT, TCU, KSU) than OSU has faced (Texas, Kansas, UL-Lafayette).

Conversely, OSU's defense has faced much worse offenses (Texas, Kansas, UL-Lafayette) than ISU (Tulsa, TT, KSU).

Basically, the only legitimate team OSU has beaten so far has been Texas, and they just got SMOKED by Oklahoma. The other respectable competition on the schedule has been Arizona (they beat you by three touchdowns) and they're currently on a three game losing streak at 3-3 overall.
