Rehearsal Dinner Locations in Des Moines

I'm in charge of coming up with the rehearsal dinner location. The one thing I have to do and I'm failing miserably. I was all excited about Jethro's and then found out they charge $3,000! A little more than we're looking to spend. Should be around 30-40 people total.

    Any ideas peeps?

Now that MBB is back, do we still have to pretend that WBB matters?

We just grilled burgers in a public park. Worked great, kids had things to do, and it was laid back and easy.

That makes sense, I was just shocked. I think there were maybe 20 people at our rehearsal dinner, but everyone else in the wedding party was single and no kids.

Bingo. A lot of the family/people in the wedding are from out of town. Pretty much have to invite their significant others or they are just sitting in a hotel.

That would be my plan as well. Problem is: wedding is in early March.

Don't pin this on me. I've done absolutely nothing so far. I told her she could do whatever the hell she wanted as long as I didn't have to help. If that means missing one March Madness then so be it.

We had ours at Rock Bottom. I think the beer tab ended up a little outrageous though...

We did ours at Mama Lacona's, this was back in 2003. A quick glance at their website shows no charge for the room. Not sure they have enough space for 30-40, but worth checking out maybe.

+1 for Rock Bottom. Food and drinks were great! I don't recall the final cost though...a lot will depend on how you do drinks. I believe we used tickets they provided and kept track of and they only charged per those. Good luck!

Have you just called around to the restaurants in town?

30 people, $100/person seems awuful steep for a BBQ joint. I would think plenty of places would be able to work with you on getting something well under $30/person plus liqour.
