    Vikings Tailgating

Anybody got the scoop on what tailgating at the Metrodome is like, and where to park?

We're heading up to the game this Sunday, and all I can tell -- other than I'm going to have to take out a second mortgage to get a spot -- is that it looks like a total mess.

There seem to be a couple "official lots" where you need season passes, and then all the rest of the lots for the common folk say "No Tailgating Allowed."

Curious as to if that is actually enforced, or if I need to somehow get into the "official" lot or what the deal is.

Any regulars up there with advice are appreciated.

    Re: Vikings Tailgating

we always went to the lot on Washington (north of the dome).

but most of the people seem to go to the bars. i was up for the packers game last year and started at 7 corners (parked at the parking garage across the street) and bar hopped to the stadium. fun time

Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, "It is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true than selfish and worry about my liver."

    Re: Vikings Tailgating

I don't go often but I have never seen any decent tailgating around there. Sorry I am no help. Good luck finding something.

    I'll see you Sunday.

    Re: Vikings Tailgating

Other than the few official lots, tailgating is pretty much non-existent. Bar hopping as others have suggested is the way to go.

Bump. Going with FDWx. Do the bars have any thing stupid like cover charge or $8 bud lights? Just trying to figure out how much it's going to cost if we decide to do the bars or if attempting to tailgate is the better option.

    Re: Vikings Tailgating

We tailgated in a lot right behind a bar that Matt Birk used to own (I have no idea what the name of the bar is). I'm not sure what street it's on, but it was a couple of blocks west of the stadium. The lot was packed full of tailgaters and seemed to be a popular spot.
