Why does every opposing fan base, blogger, etc, think they can and will put up 40+ points on our defense? Will they ever learn?

Maybe the crows taste better down in Okie so it won't be so bad come Sat. afternoon.

Not count the ISU game, Tulsa is averaging 44ppg. We held them to 23.
Iowa is averaging 25ppg. We held them to 6.
Tech is averaging 44ppg. We held them to 24.
TCU is averaging 35ppg. We held them to 23.
K State is averaging 44ppg. We held them to 27.

That means that ISU is holding teams to an average of 17 pts below their season average. These guys can dream all they want, but OSU is not going to hang 40+ on this defense.

Given his predicted 10 point margin of victory, I would have to say that 31-21 is much more likely than the 40-30 he predicted.

Anybody else find that they cheer for any State school? I like Oklahoma, Kansas, Florida, Mississippi, Oregon, Michigan, North Carolina, Washington, and Arizona State's. I guess the two I don't like are LSU and PSU and I'm neutral on OSU.

When it comes to other schools, I find myself rooting more for coaches than I do teams. I liked FSU football because I liked Boddy Bowden and now I find myself rooting for Okie State and Wazzou because I like Gundy and the Pirate. Frank Martin allowed me to like KSU basketball, but I don't like Snyder, even though he's a heck of a coach.

Re: The CF Duel: With PistolsFiringBlog.com

Enjoyed the banter thoroughly, Chris, so nice work here.

I was saddened to have to agree with your position/unit rankings. There's no way around the fact that all phases of the offense have disappointed including the OL and WR. We still seem to lack consistency catching the football as a WR group and now we lack a deep threat that we had with Reynolds. We regressed in the run game and our passing game is not improved and if anything, appears to have regressed as well.

I think who we have played has something to do with that, but I don't think one can make a strong case that the offense is improved over last season. The numbers at the end may bear out differently, but I don't think anyone will be happy and we will not have achieved anywhere close to what we all want IF, in fact, the offense is ranked dead last or next to last in scoring, yardage and other key indicators.

It's affecting the defense as well, since they will be forced to be on the field significantly more than they would with an 'average' offense. Khaal's offensive analysis is damning - utterly indicting - of our offensive failures to this point. We simply MUST clean up the junk we've all witnessed and do better in all phases, from QB on down. I will be cheering regardless, but it's just disheartening to see the offense dragging down the team in these games that are a TD either way. I think we'll see improvement, in part, due to who we play over the next few weeks, but we really need to focus and clean things up as a unit.

    Cheers

When I see this thread in the list, why do I keep thinking: "what's that? double guns!"??? Too much Lyle "Chip" Chipperson?

I'm probably the same way. Definitely don't like Penn State but besides that I almost always cheer for land grant schools.

I tend to root for fellow Land Grants. There are exceptions of course, most notably Nebby.

If the offense shows up we're in business. If not. Well, it's going to be a long day in Stillwater.
