Re: cbs sports just put out their prediction for OSU game

It's really too bad we can't run the ball more successfully. I think we could do something similar to KState's offense if we can turn it around.

Re: cbs sports just put out their prediction for OSU game

It's a reasonable write-up, which is all you can really ask for. I don't necessarily agree with it, because it doesn't take into account that OSU hasn't played a defense with a pulse yet (nobody in the top 75 if I saw the numbers in another thread), and haven't stopped an offense with a pulse, either (our offense may be disappointing, but it does have a pulse).

I keep going back to this. OSU's biggest win is KU and that was by 1 TD. I don't understand how these people like Ubben rank OSU & BU above us. And I think the hype of last year is overrated.
But, being the underdog is every given Saturday. Time to prove vegas and analysts wrong for the 4th time this year.

Re: cbs sports just put out their prediction for OSU game

OSU will commit to stopping the run and try to force JB to beat us throwing the ball. Given his below 50% completion rate, that is a good strategy.

Our defense should hold them to under 30 but what can our offense do?

I am worried about our passing game because so many of our issues against K-State, especially at the end, were self inflicted. K-State wasn't breaking up passes. Barnett was throwing uncatchable balls half the time and the other half the time they were bouncing off our reciever's hands.

I think a lot of has to do with potential. The OSU offensive system has shown it can potentially put up a lot of points and the ISU offense...well not so much. From an outsiders perspective they will see that ISU's defense will keep the game close but, lacks the offensive punch to win the game.

Fair point. But KSU & TCU's defense >>>>>>>>> OSU defense.
We put up 37 on TCU. Perfectly reasonable to think we could put 37 up on OSU.

Could? Yes. Will? That is still a big question mark. The Qb's have failed to demonstrate that they are going to hit those long passes consistently. JB did in that one game but other than that we have had both QB's struggle with accuracy on the long ball.

JB's two long passes were basically throwing it in the general vicinity with some air and letting Lenz run under it. When he has to throw with real accuracy is when he struggles a bit.

I keep seeing this on here. You guys keep looking at the stat ranking of each team and basing your opinion on that. What you are not looking at is the rankings of the teams each has played and their rankings.

ISU's Defense is ranked #24 in total defense. Is that good? Of course it is. But, how good are the offenses that you've faced to get that ranking?

    1. Tulane. Ranked #13 scoring offense. How good are the teams defenses they faced to get that high of an offensive ranking?
    a. Tulane #114 Scoring D
    b. Nichols St #98 Total D in FCS
    c. Fresno #46 Scoring D
    d. UAB #101 Scoring D
    e. Marshall #120 Scoring D
    f. UTEP #98 in Total D

    2. Iowa. Ranked #98 scoring offense. Played:
    a. N. Ill #68 in Total D
    b. UNI #67 Scoring D
    c. C. Mich #113 Scoring D
    d. Minnesota #30 Scoring D
    e. Mich St #13 Scoring D

    3. W. Ill. (FCS). How does W. Ill compare to Savannah States Offense?
SSU - Ranked #120 total offense in FCS
    W. Ill - Ranked #117 total offense in FCS
I think you guys can quit talking smack about Savannah State now.

    4. TT. Ranked #10 Total Offense. Played:
    a. NW St #74 in FCS in scoring D
    b. Tx St #87 in Scoring D
    c. NM #82 in Total D
    d. OU #14 in Total D
    e. WVU #114 in Total D

    5. TCU. Ranked #41 Scoring O. Played:
    a. Grambling #95 in Total D
    b. Kansas #91 Total D
    c. Virginia #99 Scoring D
    d. SMU #72 Total D
    e. Baylor #120 Total D

    6. KSU. Ranked #15 Scoring O. Played:
    a. Mizz St #72 FCS in Scoring D
    b. Miami #117 in Total D
    c. N. Tex #66 in Total D
    d. OU #14 in Total D
    e. KU #91 Total D

As you can see those offenses went up against some putrid defenses albiet Oklahoma and stats are pretty skewed.

As far as Oklahoma State, you guys say our defenses are bad. Well let's do the same for OSU but for opposing offenses.

    1. Savanna State. Ranked #120 in FCS in Total Offense. Played:
    a. OSU Ranked #1 Total Offense
    b. FSU Ranked #6 Scoring Offense
    c. NC Cent #28 in FCS Scoring O
    d. Howard #65 in FCS Scoring O
    e. Morgan St #57 in FCS Scoring O
    f. Fl A&M #55 in FCS Total O

    2. Arizona. Ranked #4 Offense. Played:
    a. Toledo Ranked #78 Score D
    b. SCS #62 Total D
    c. Oregon #43 Total D
    d. Or St #25 Scoring D
    e. Stanford #35 Scoring D
As you can see Arizona's offense played some good defenses to earn their offensive ranking

    3. Lafayette. Ranked #24 Scoring Offense. Played:
    a. Lamar #16 in FCS Total D
    b. Troy #49 Scoring D
    c. FIU #90 Total D
    d. Tulane #111 Total D

    4. Texas. Ranked #10 Scoring Offense. Played:
    a. Wyo #94 Scoring D
    b. NM #79 Scoring D
    c. Ole Miss #41 Total D
    d. WVU #114 Total D
    e. OU #14 Total D

    5. Kansas. Ranked #84 Total Offense. Played:
    a. SDS #7 in FCS Total D
    b. Rice #106 in Total D
    c. TCU #15 in Total D
    d. N. Ill #29 in Scoring D
    e. KSU #19 in Scoring D
Kansas actually played some good defenses.

You say that OSU hasn't faced any defenses with a pulse, yet the teams that OSU has played so far have had better offenses than you probably thought. And while your #24 ranked scoring defense seems impressive, it has came at the hands of some teams that might not be worty of their high offensive ranking due to the poor defensive teams they've faced.

Put up points on teams that lack a defense. ISU has put up points on teams that do have a defense.
