Lay off the QB. Or running game was pedestrian

I know, JB struggled hitting open guys. But do you guys realize how much more tough it is for him when our running game was basically shut down? This is a concern. I know James White would have helped, but Shontrelle was often hit before he could even get going. (Yes, Barnett could have made better zone read decisions)

Also, some people make it seem like JB is so awful. The kid is barely out of teenage years, it probably already feels like the weight of the world is on his shoulders. Help him out a little bit. Some Negative Nancy's on here.

What did you expect? They stacked the box because we don't have a passing game.

Some of that comes back to the quarterback play. Hit the receivers when you have a chance and make the defense pay. We failed miserably at doing so.

Barnett deserves some blame, but yes, the running game was putrid.

That's not fair. Just because they were open doesn't mean that he should put the ball where they can catch it. They just need to have double-jointed shoulders to reach behind them, stretchy arms for the high ones, and better hackeysack skills for the ones thrown at their feet.

Time to genetically engineer the receivers into something our QBs can work with.

16-36? Int in the end zone? Our qbs suck. That said. No James white is a bad thing. Very bad.

Yeah boys we have the worst running game in the big 12 and maybe that is why we were picked for 9th fricking place in a 10 team league.

Until our running game improves a lot we will just keep on losing games...Oh well it is what it is as they say and thats not a good place to be....

Re: Lay off the QB. Or running game was pedestrian

We don't have a running game because as an offense doesn't force the defense to respect the passing game. When the defense can overload the box and the offense still can't pass on it, you're not going to be able to run against it, either.

Re: Lay off the QB. Or running game was pedestrian

Dont know much, but James White was on crutches the second half and didnt have pads on. From what I saw (middle of student section) it looked like he was putting weight on it, so maybe a minor ankle/knee injury. Not sure how much this effected our run game though.

It's not the running game. KState sold out against the run. We couldn't do anything in the air.

No James White didn't matter. Our backs were getting first contact in the backfield. That's a problem up front and a problem through the air.

And it will be difficult to improve the running game when our QB's can't hit the broad side of a barn. The only way we could do that would be with the world's greatest Oline and the bestest running back ever. ISU isn't going to land those.

Re: Lay off the QB. Or running game was pedestrian

I don't think KSTATE was always loading the box. I remember whenever we went 4 wide, the would have 2 deep safeties and only 5 in the box. I think after watching last week they were a little bit worried about the deep ball. Seemed to me like the oline was getting beat. A lot of guys shedding blocks and making the play at the line. Oline played well in pass protection, but bad in run blocking

And hell, I'm not even sure Barnett was most ineffective player today. Jansen Watson got absolutely picked on by Kansas State.
