Why no Midnight Madness at ISU?

This has probably been discussed before......but why does ISU not have this? I would think it would be popular for both the men's and women's teams. Is there a reason?

-Be kind. That is something you will never regret. You will never say to yourself when you are old "I wish I was not good to that person".

Because the athletic department is lazy and doesn't want to do the work to put it on? That's the only reason I can think of.

Because if it's truly a "midnight" madness, there are about 12 people who would show up and when Hilton rents at $1,500/hour that's a total waste of money.

If Texas A&M can pull if off so can ISU. (They stared doing it when Gillispie came to town)

It doesn't have to be at Midnight, hardly anyone does it then anymore.

Re: Why no Midnight Madness at ISU?

they used to do something and it wasn't that well received, maybe its time to try it again, but its up to the coaches ultimately. Having attended the previous events, I have to say it just didn't work, IMO, trying to do both men's and women's together. They quit even having a dunk contest for crying out loud. I be in favor of doing something again, 3 point event, including the coaches, dunk contest and scrimmage. Frankly would favor separate events for women's team.

Re: Why no Midnight Madness at ISU?

I thought I heard somewhere that it technically counts as one of your practices and coaches then have to weigh fan support vs utilizing their practice time. Am I off here?

I agree, if done correctly you can really use it as a "fire up" event, pair with some music, etc.

Maybe we should do a "noon-madness" event for all our Hilton lower circle fans that never stand to cheer, etc?

I'm fairly sure you'd be correct. It's be along the same lines as to why fans aren't allowed into the preseason scrimmages when we for example head to Lincoln. If they allowed fans you'd have an exhibition on your hands.

Re: Why no Midnight Madness at ISU?

The "extra practice" excuse was shattered last season when ISU got ten of them before going to Europe to play the equivalent of Waukee High's JV team.
