    Lot G7 post-game exiting changes

Received this note from the Cyclone Club today, which is very good news for anyone who sat that hell after the Tech game...

    Dear Cyclone fans,
This football season we have experienced tremendous growth in the number of fans attending our games and we would like to thank you for your outstanding support. Please know our staff is also aware that the increased attendance has created some post-game exiting challenges and gridlock for patrons who park in lot G-7.

Please know we have looked at several options to help optimize traffic flow and are implementing some changes, on a trial basis, for the Kansas State game on October 13. It is our hope that these changes will help alleviate the time it takes to exit lot G-7.

To assist with post-game exiting, the following plan will be implemented on October 13:

    • Lots G-6 and G-7 will have two lanes of traffic exiting the parking lot and turning east on South 4th Street, using both east bound lanes

    • Attendants/traffic control personnel will use barricades to block off the east bound lanes on South 4th Street between University Boulevard and the entrance to lot G-6 and G-7.

By preventing traffic from proceeding east on South 4th Street past the G-7 exit, we hope to allow for a more continuous flow of traffic exiting the G-7 lot. Please know that heavy pedestrian traffic will continue in the area and that we will continue to have traffic personnel stationed at South 4th Street and University Boulevard to direct both vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

Again, this post-game traffic exiting plan will be on a trial basis and we ask for your continued patience and support as we implement these changes.

    Thank you and Go Cyclones!

    The Cyclone Club Staff

Re: Lot G7 post-game exiting changes

It seems to me that the people always gave the haunted Forrest Parker's more time to exit.. So this should help a lot. I don't remember having nearly the wait last year as this year...

One upside to the 11:00 start is no big rush getting out after the game. Planning on at least an hour and a half of post game tailgating this week

So will they still force traffic from S5, S6, etc north on University? I know a lot of that traffic turned east on 4th in order to get to Duff and head south out of Ames.

Re: Lot G7 post-game exiting changes

Yeah, I parked in the Towers lot vs Tech instead of G7 because it takes approximately a million years to get out of there. I really think this will help a lot. And it was lots faster get out of the Towers lot than G7, even with the extra walk

No matter what, I could NEVER cheer for Dirt and Urine.

Re: Lot G7 post-game exiting changes

    As issue worth considering...

Don't they close G7 in the event of heavy rains? I don't park there but I recall that being done once or twice in years past. If it rains as heavily this Saturday as I've heard it predicted, perhaps they don't open G7 at all.

Re: Lot G7 post-game exiting changes

I don't think closing G7 is really an option with the amount of traffic that will displace. The only time i remember that happening was after the floods...and that was because the entire ground was soupy.
The ground now is pretty dry, it will soak up a lot of rain before it becomes squishy.

Plus now it looks like the rain will hold off until after noon...problem is it might be in the form of severe weather now instead of general rain.

My biggest problem is the people who don't understand the concept of every other car. If you have two lines of cars, they are going to move fastest by alternating which line can go.

Re: Lot G7 post-game exiting changes

I really like G7, but it's been a ****** ****** ***** getting out of it this year. After TT and even WIU, we sat for over an hour on the tailgate, before even starting the truck. I can't see what's going on up by the street, but it looks like they empty out G6 and Haunted Forest before letting us move.

This week . . . bolt cutters and a new 'south exit' for this guy

This. I'm willing to throw down with anyone who doesn't respect the zipper.

While on live TV, Ford used a vulgar term to describe a private part of the female anatomy, adding that he was “happily married” and “got more than enough to eat at home.”

It'd be easy for them to close it. They'd say "Park on campus and we'll dispatch additional CyRide buses for gameday leaving from __________ every ____ minutes."

And dry ground doesn't soak up water for ****. The top level gets saturated and then water just sits on top.

Only under a heavy rain...on a light annoying type of rain the ground will soak quite a bit of it up.

Besides...apparently were more likely to get a tornado than we are heavy rain:
