    prepare to be jammed

Standard KSU D while Snyder is there: jam our receivers... shut down the run. Make us pass which requires pocket time while our receivers try to break free. If they can't break free... no one is open and the pocket collapses.

I'm sure there'll be plenty of whining about our receivers being jammed in the game thread.

I hope you don't mean to receivers because throwing screens against press coverage would be about the dumbest thing possible.

    Re: prepared to be jammed

The first thing that comes to mind in this situation would be to throw the deep ball. That is something we did not do against Tech, but helped us against TCU, a couple deep passes keep the DB's off the line...

Exactly, don't need to throw anymore pick 6's like the one against OSU last year.

Insert a shovel pass and run a few draw plays. That will help loosen things up a little and will get our awesome stable of backs into the action more.

    Re: prepared to be jammed

Figure out how to send a receiver in motion and you should have one receiver getting a free release each play.

Stack them and there's another easy way to get a free release for someone.

    Hit the deep ball.

That was the key against TCU.

    Re: prepared to be jammed

Last year we had a decent amount of success running the ball on them with White only getting 8 carries and no Shontrelle. I'm sure with Barnett at quarterback being more of a run first team will be evident. I'm not saying we won't take shots when they put 8 in the box, but with a good zone read quarterback and improved line play a team can run when there are 8 in the box.

If they have 8 in the box and we try to block them with 5 we aren't running the ball. The zone-read by design leaves one guy unblocked but two or three in the box unblocked will blow up the play the majority of the time (which is why you have to throw them out of it).

We didn't run the ball very well in Manhattan last year outside a couple big runs. Outside Duck's big run we went for 3.4/carry. That's not going to get the job done.

I can't believe that the refs couldn't find their hankies. Obviously Willie planted his gargantuan melon right on the Jayhawk's chin. That should be a 15 yard personal foul. It would be even better if he was ejected and had to sit out the next game.

If they press, gotta stretch the field. Accuracy is key. Either they give up one-on-one on the outside for Lenz or they give up crossing routes with lots of YAC for Jarvis. Pick your poison, Skeletor!
