Making Football Players Run is Now Corporal Punishment

New Scrutiny on Running as Punishment for Athletes | KCRG-TV9 | Cedar Rapids, Iowa News, Sports, and Weather | Local News

If some whiny parent is mad because their son can't behave or listen to what he is told it should not be considered corporal punishment. The kid is probably getting more parenting on that field then he is at home.

I can just see what is coming next...........

Wish I had those parents back on high school on Mondays when coach "punished" us for losing...

Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice?
Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.

Discipline is bad? No wonder we have such a completely undisciplined society.

No kidding. Need to go back to the late 70's and 80's style of raising kids. Tough love. Spankings.
There is way to much pussification. Kids can get away with anything these days cause any kind of consequences are considered abuse. Pretty soon grounding or taking away their electronics will be considered child abuse.

    THAT CLASSIC.

Nope just like with our own children all we can now do is say "go sit in the corner, yah that will solve the issue"

I'm not trying to be difficult, it comes naturally....

That's a good one. Not anymore I guess.

Maybe kids of today wouldn't have the weight/diabetes issues they do if they ran more?

Coaches can punish the entire team instead of singling out the one offender. That'll send a clear message.

    More appropriately though:

Poor Lil' Johnny doesn't get to play.
Poor Lil' Johnny is assigned to the scout team only.

But my personal favorite would be: give Lil' Johnny a trophy. Every participant deserves a trophy. Lil' Johnny deserves a special trophy for his misconduct.

[QUOTE=leroycyclone;3092824]Coaches can punish the entire team instead of singling out the one offender. That'll send a clear message.

That reminds me of 7th grade junior high football. First game, I didn't get to play. We smoked them. We're walking back into the lockers and the coaches are lined up congratulating us. Head Coach says good game to me. I was a smart *** and replied 'how would I know'.

Next thing I know he's got me by the back of my collar dragging me into his office. I got 5 good stinging swats for my lip. Got home and the coach had called my father. He said if it had been him, I'd have gotten 10.

I was much more careful with my mouth going forward.

So with modern nanny logic, the whole team should get swats? Or maybe I just needed a hug?
