    A Few JTS Renovation Questions

    A. Will the addition of more suites and making the club area ultimately bigger cause the capacity to go down (current official capacity is 55,000)?

    B. What is the chance of phase II even happening (says pending the necesary funding for phase II of JTS and for the practice facilities for Hilton)?

    C. What will the capacity be after the bowling in of the end zone if phase II does happen.

Sorry these may seem like dumb questions, but I have the personality where I need to know all the details

Re: A Few JTS Renovation Questions

I know the answer to "c" is about 1500 additional seats, but this is a little misleading since they don't count the hillsides in the total capacity count.

Re: A Few JTS Renovation Questions

    First one, no idea.

I'd say the chances of #2 happening are directly proportional to the play (and therefore the support of) the football team. If we keep putting up over 35,000 plus season ticket holders and people keep donating to the NCC, it's probably going to happen.

For #3, if I remember correctly, bowling in the end zone won't have a major effect on capacity. Basically you're taking people off the hillsides and putting them in seats. I could be wrong, though.

    A. There are only around 46500 seats, the rest of the capacity is the hillsides (SRO), so I doubt they will change that number due to losing a few seats.

    B. Phase II WILL happen. JP has already raise some of the money as I understand it, and there is some talk of moving it up if a major donor is named and as long as it doesn't interfere with the Hilton work. The past couple of games, someone gave $500K for the Hilton project and another gave $500K for the JTS work. Phase I work does not rely on donations, merely suite revenue and ticket sales, etc....

    c. I think official capacity will remain the same after the south endzone is enclosed. Actual seats will increase by ~2000 as I recall, but we're really just replacing some SRO seating with actual seats.

JP said on a call in show that the capacity with bowling in the endzone would be 50k permanent seats and upto 5k hill sides seats (North side of the stadium). Total capacity of 55K.

The addition being built on the south end zone will have the ability to have a second level being added down the road.

You cannot fit 5,000 on just the north hillsides, maybe 2000 that is about it.

The University considers each hillside to hold 2,500 for a total of 10,000.

I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone.

The actual capacity of JT is like 46,500.
Then add about 10,000 hillside and you get about what we are getting for the big games.
That is about 2500 per hill.

I bet you guys can't tell by my avatar what my opinion of the stadium should be?
I think having hills at your stadium is like watching a Tuesday night MAC game. We need to put some money into that stadium to get it up to par IMO.
Its just a matter of finding that money. I go by the "if you build it, they will come" theory. I think if we can get the Jacobson building all football and JT redone, we will have an easier time getting players in. I think we need the seating capacity 60,000. I mean got 57,000 a few times this year alone and we suck.

A.The club section will not change...same capacity. The new suites will reduce capacity between the levels.

B.It will happen. It might not be until 2011, but it will happen.

C.They've put close to 57k in the stadium this year. I think if they enclose that endzone, they will be close to 60k total capacity.

    Cy Plains,
At the price per seat, with the 3 year committment/seat, to rich for my blood. Great seats and amenities. Got to love the free buffet each game, close parking, beer and wine bar and heaters above the outoor seats.

However, we like the west side anyway.

JTS would be really cool if they had bowling there. That way you could use it more than 8X a year.

Re: A Few JTS Renovation Questions

There's a couple of big factors regarding bowling in of the stadium...

First off the 5,000 hillside priced seats now become an awesome area for a student section utilizing the hilton crazy's to our advantage, get them close to the action when at that end with an increased cost per ticket over the hillsides.

Secondly, thinking back to the uni and iowa games, can you imagine how loud it would get in jts if that sound was now coming from all directions.

Lastly, a vision i had was how awesome would it be down the road of Chiz's success and JP driving the ship if the South end zone got bowled in and suites and upper deck were also required - i would think that would be an awesome vision....the Jake opening up to this awesome stadium and the sound would be out of this world - seating i would guess would be around 65,000-70,000 it would be great to match EIU's old stadium...

If you win it (the big 12 that is), they will come.....................or something like that....

I have no idea what most of this post is trying to say.

    True and Valiant

I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.
