RECRUITING: Some musings/nuggets on a Friday

So obviously I've been working a lot on basketball recruiting coverage this morning...

Just a few nuggets/thoughts to wrap things up.

*** 2014 Overland Park PG Clayton Custer visited Iowa State last weekend. It sounds like the Cyclones are in contention but Oklahoma State is also in a strong position. Oklahoma State is also in on Stevie Clark, a highly-touted 2013 PG out of Oklahoma City. I can only imagine that if Clark goes to OSU, that will help Iowa State's chances at signing Custer immensely.

*** A couple other JUCO bigs to keep an eye on...

Chris, I'm assuming that Soumaoro has decommitted from Texas Tech since the whole Gillispie debacle? It says he signed a LOI, but I'm assuming he's obviously opened up his recruitment again. Definitely a prospect I'd like to see in cardinal and gold

I'd take both of those JUCO bigs in a heartbeat.

The way I understand it is he signed but never made it to Tech. I strictly got that from his bio on the IWCC page though. I admittedly haven't done a ton of research on him yet.

I was thinking the same thing. First I've heard of him, but he is huge. Think he could man the post?

Looks like Fred read our concerns about lack of size and got on some bigs good job CF'ers.

You might want to look more closely at that profile. IIRC, long before the "debacle", he didn't qualify, went to juco, was hurt and sat out last season, and now is being recruited again. Which, I assume would mean that after playing this year, he'd have three seasons of eligibility remaining.

Good info, love me some recruiting info.
    Thanks Chris

If you ask the basketball analysts outside the state of Iowa I think you would be surprised to hear their responses. Iowa was pegged as a preseason top 5 team by one ESPN analyst and is ranked in the vast, vast majority of preseason top 25 polls

Yeah, good think Fred reads CF; otherwise, our recruiting would really suck. ;)
