McQueary suing Penn State for $4 million

Ex-Penn State football aide McQueary files $4 million whistleblower lawsuit - Open Channel

Former Penn State football assistant Mike McQueary on Tuesday filed a whistleblower lawsuit seeking $4 million from the university, claiming he was made a "scapegoat" for the university's failures to rein in a coach accused of sexual assault.

Dude has already lost all respect from most people. See a child being raped- stop it and report it to the police (especially when your boss doesn't). I don't feel the least bit sorry for him.

No one could have made him a scapegoat for anything if he had gone straight to the authorities like he should have.

Respectfully disagree.... does sound like he did report it to Joe who had a responsibility.. Agreed, if as apparently he subsequently he saw Sandusky around the PSU facilities it would have been damned awful, and yeah, MAYBE he should have acted then more, like go back to Joe, but from what I hear, nice grandfatherly Joe didnt put up with much when it threatened his little world. So McQ might likely have rationalized.

I am not saying that McQ couldn't have done more.. he could have... but I do imagine that the football/power situation is a context that makes it hard to judge and harder (for me) to condemn McQ out of hand. Because I dont know enough facts.. It is easy to say, well hell *I* would have X or Y, but in the situation, I doubt many truly know what they would have done. Hope that makes sense.. One thing for certain, totally disgusting and incredibly awful situation, and sanctions were demanded and appropriate.

Respectfully disagree Anytime you see a child apparently being raped and you do not physically stop that assault from happening then you are in the wrong. imo

I realized that we are just tough young men. Resilient, really, Morris adds. A lot of people probably would have tucked their tail and tried to make moves but this group stuck together. Everybody is on the same page and that really told me a lot about the type of season we can have.

I'm no legal expert, but reporting an offense to your immediate supervisor and not taking it any further when it's not being handled IMO is NOT whistle blowing. While Pedo State deserves to take as many hits as possible over this, McQueary was part of the problem, not the solution. He should not be rewarded for doing the very minimum while little boys are getting raped.

Right. It's more difficult than I can muster for me to feel sorry for him. He reaped what he sowed.

I want to feel sorry for this guy, but I can't. He had a choice to stand up for the kid and likely not work again in the field, or walk away and when it was discovered he wouldn't work again in the field. Was a decade of coaching worth it? Whether he gets paid or not means nothing to me. He has to live with what he did for the rest of his life.
