the thing i really don't understand...

is how james white can rip off nice runs in EVERY game and still only get 9 carries? he is a very nice weapon for us. he may not be as shifty as shontrelle, but he is great at finding holes and running north & south. not to mention his receiving ability out of the backfield. 37 carries in 4 games??? i really dislike this. give the guy the ball already!! jantz should not be leading the team in rushing attempts. if we are gonna be a running team, then JB needs to be our guy at QB.

I don't care if we're running Woody in the Wildcat formation every down I wouldn't care as long as we score more than 6 points offensively. I'm sure the coaches will make some adjustments this week.

....yeah, speaking of Woody, did he get in for more than 3 plays last night? I'm really starting to get annoyed at the lack of Woody....

I think this goes for Shontrelle too. Gotta get the RBs more touches. Can't go all the way back to 80s-era Nebraska with 95% run and 5% pass, but I think they gotta go in that direction.

And yes, the zone read needs to die. Maybe 5 times per game or something, but not every stinking run play. Defenses have figured it out, and SJ looks like a dog ****ing a peach pit running it-- shaky, awkward and pained.

i've said this since game one. if you're going to preach a run first team. give your backfield (which is stacked), more carries. the pass game will open up if we just give the ball to our rb's who are averaging about 6 ypc. its unreal.

Everyone want to see the zone read go, but the zone read looked GREAT with JB and Richardson running it against WIU. It is a beautiful and effective play if done right. Steele just doesn't do it right. Rather than dropping the zone read, we need to drop the Steele.

FIFY. Just because it worked against WIU doesn't mean it's the future of the program.

Re: the thing i really don't understand...

last year i loved how our running game ran much smoother with JB in there. white was ripping off nice runs. so was duck. woody got in there at the right times and either picked up a short yardage first down or slammed into the endzone. this years offense is nothing like i expected it to be. the RBs need to be the focus of the offense

Yea this might work, basically make the quarterback less of a focal point in our offense. Also I agree with the guy above who said the zone read can be very effective when run convincingly and with better decision making.

Mess should tell Jantz he gets like five carries a game, pick them wisely. There is no reason for him to rush more than our good stable of RB's.
