Wondered when that shoe was going to drop.

So that brings the number of teams we will be playing next year with new coaches to 3 (NU, TAM & BU) - not a bad thing.

Could be more too... I don't think Mangino is completely happy at KU, if a big boy comes along I wouldn't be suprised to see him bolt...

I can't see him staying with the marginal fan support and living in the shadow of the MBB program.

I really don't think they are the number 4 team in the country, but hey they are undefeated. There season goes to show what is possible when OK and TX were off the schedule. Would love to see that kind of run in to 2 years at Ames.

Mangino was kind of on the hot seat coming into this season. He had the Dan McCarney syndrome of getting to 7 wins and then shutting it down for the year. IF, and that's a big if, he gets a better opportunity...he would be wise to take it.

Why don't they just fire the next coach while they are at it and save some time. Baylor has a chance to be good in basketball. I just don't ever see them being anything in football. Guy Morris is a good coach and he could not get it done.

I think sometimes in coaching it just takes the right guy. Baylor is a tough job, but it looks a lot better than a lot of other ones, including ISU. After all Baylor is in TX, that has to be a huge recruiting advantage, no matter what type of reputation the program has. As much as he needed to go from ISU, Danny Mac would be a great fit at Baylor. I would hate to see him there, because that would be another Big 12 team on the rise.

I don't know for sure the atmosphere around Baylor, but I'd like to think that the atmosphere at ISU is a little better than Baylor, Baylor being a Baptist school and all.

Nothing against Baptists, but I don't know that the lifestyle necessarily matches up with kids these days.

Re: Dallas Morning News: Morriss out at Baylor

I reallly thought Morris was going to get to a bowl game with them. They have been very close the last 2 years but have not done much this year and have lost big.

Step 1: Cut a hole in the box.

This is true, but Morris was bringing Kentucky back in a big way before being hired by Baylor -- and this was done in 2 years. With an academic reputation as prestigious as Baylor's, it's hard to lure any great players there with that kind of academic pressure on them.
