Can't believe so many are picking the Hawks

Is it because I live in MPLS and see that Minnesota is actually decent? Their run defense is pretty stingy. I think they beat Iowa by 10+

I'd bet the same. Maybe not by 10, but I think the Goophers win with how bad our coaching and defense is.

Only surprise from Hawks this year so far was beating UNI. I give it to MN by 3.

Re: Can't believe so many are picking the Hawks

I live in MPLS too and have watched the Gophers play a little bit. Though the Gophers start is encouraging, and they are improved, they have beaten garbage teams without blowing them out excluding UNH. But UNH is an average at best FCS team, and a blowout against them doesn't say much. Additionally, the game is in Iowa City, the Gophers will be without Gray, and frankly, Iowa's season is on the line. If Iowa loses, it's doubtful they go to a bowl game which is not true for UM. Given all that, I actually think Iowa will find a way to pull out the win, though it may not be pretty. If the game was @UM, I would pick the Gophers. Regardless of what happens though, it should be a close, entertaining, though not necessarily aesthetically pleasing game. Will be rooting for the Gophs.

Iowa has a habit of giving up a first drive TD. Hoping for that again.

I am no Gopher fan but I do think this team is decent. Doesn't mean they are great. They were worse the last two years and Iowa was better the last two years. If this was ISU that was 2-2 like Iowa no one would pick the Clones against a 4-0 conference for. People still see 'Iowa' on a jersey and think they're good. They aren't. Not this year. Minnesota 28-17

I don't know, I always find the Hawks confusing. If their third string fullback is supposedly so fab, why was he sitting on the bench? And isn't he a walk on? I'm not sure what his development says about their talent level.

Re: Can't believe so many are picking the Hawks

4-0 sounds a lot better than 2-2, but they were just a few plays from losing to UNLV and western michigan. I think its still early to call Minnesota decent. They don't return many starters from last year..not that that can hurt you when you're talking about a 3 win team but still.. 4-0 or 2-2.. doesn't mean much. I think you have two bad teams playing each other. One team has home field advantage and plenty of motivation. And the other team will be playing without their best player. This has the makings of a horrible game. Way to go putting on ESPN2. Good call

i hope iowa loses by 28+ and they lose the rest of their games, sending the program further into a tailspin. mass exodus of players and decommits of recruits so we can hear about their glory days when we're chillin with our SEZ and competing for championships. im not delusional. just hopeful. I was a Gophers fan for 18 years before I came to ISU. This team isn't the best I've seen, but I think they can hang with Iowa. It will be a close game, but hopefully me cheering for the Golden Gophers make a difference.

And Iowa was just a few plays from losing to Northern Ill, or just a few plays from winning against CMU. It may well be too early to call the golden rodents decent (as is expected), but it's also too early to call the hawks decent (which is unacceptable to the masses over thisaway...and let's keep reminding them what/how long they're paying their coach).
