Is there a way to get songs off of an IPod back onto a computer? I deleted a bunch of albums off ITunes I don't listen to anymore, and that ended up being a bad idea. My concern is that usually when you plug an IPod in, it will automatically update itself based on Itunes. Will it delete the files on the IPod? I'm using a Mac by the way.
Either one of these two should help you. There is also programs out there you can buy that will do it from Best Buy or such, but you can do it with out the program. It is just a matter of making the files visible from invisible. You need to go into Itunes on you computer and turn off the auto update prior to plugging your Ipod in though.
I haven't read through the attached links, but first you have to view hidden files and folders (it's in Tools - Options - View tab). There's usually then an iPod Control folder (I think that's the name of it) in there - browse to it from "Add Songs to My Library" in iTunes. The songs are usually divided amongst a ton of individual folders. What kind of sucks is that, if you have songs that have been converted to the .m4p standard format of iTunes OR if you bought them off of iTunes, the file names are really non-descript. You kind of just have to grab all of them and add them to your library.
Edit - never mind, just saw that you're using a Mac. I've got nothing for you... sorry about that!
