Omaha World-Herald lists Jamie Pollard as potential candidate for next AD at Nebraska

    Who's next? Possible Osborne successors - Omaha.com

The OWH has put together their own speculative list on who might be candidates to replace Osborne as AD at Nebraska.

    - Trev Alberts (athletic director at Nebraska-Omaha)
    - Greg Byrne (athletic director at Arizona / son of former NU AD Bill Byrne)
    - Joe Castiglione (athletic director at Oklahoma)
    - John Cook (Nebraska volleyball coach)
    - Paul Meyers (associate athletic director for Nebraska - fundraising)
    - Jamie Pollard (athletic director at Iowa State)
    - Dave Rimington (president of Boomer Esiason Foundation)
    - Jamie Williams (associate athletic director at Nebraska)

    What they say about Pollard:

Athletic Achievements/Past Jobs: Chairman of Big 12 Athletics Directors Committee. Big 12 Wrestling Committee. NCAA Division III national champion in 5,000 meter run. Two-time All-American for University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

I can't imagine JP or Joe Castiglione taking over Nebraska. After the Steve Pederson debacle, I think they keep it within the husker family.

Why would a current Volleyball coach take over as AD?

Of course they would. They can get the attention of both the closest fan bases, Nebraska and Iowa State, with some mouth breather squawk fans who would love to see what Jamie has built here crumble thrown in as well.

It sells papers. (or perhaps more accurately these days gets them web page hits)

Pederson was part of the Nebraska family. He was born and raised in Nebraska and worked in the athletic department there before taking the job at Pitt for the first time.

I think the most important takeaway here is that JP was a division III track champion. Did anyone else know that?

Since Trev Alberts destroyed UNO football so it couldn't compete in any possible way with UNL, he might have a shot. They still haven't released all the public records about who "helped" make that decision.

Exactly. Well stated. Strategically thinking, this would be a great move for Nebraska. JP back into the Big Ten, as he knows Wisconsin well, enacts great moves like he has at ISU, and causes Iowa panic. It'd be a great move, but I really hope it doesn't happen.

Yes. I'm pretty sure it has been discussed on here before.

If you ask the basketball analysts outside the state of Iowa I think you would be surprised to hear their responses. Iowa was pegged as a preseason top 5 team by one ESPN analyst and is ranked in the vast, vast majority of preseason top 25 polls

Re: Omaha World-Herald lists Jamie Pollard as potential candidate for next AD at Nebr

Here why Jamie won't leave for this job.
    Because he is smart.

Nebraska doesn't keep people around that don't have success asap. So he makes a little more, but at ISU he is building something great and the fans love him. Plus ISU is going to be running into a larger budget. At NU the first 7 win football season people will be getting the pitch forks.

See Chizik. He is going to be on the hot seat after a couple of seasons and a National Title (with majority not his players..lol) Seriously....what is he going to do then?

Coordinator at Texas with a bunch of talent.
1st Head Coaching gig....Drove ISU into the ground with multiple games having the chance to win, but failed on weird tatics
Goes to Auburn with a huge pay increase and wins a Title with a couple players in questions and the rest are not his class he recruited.
Then runs Auburn into the ground.

End of story is sometimes that high profile job can be the end of you.

IF Pollard was hired by Nebraska it would be interesting to see how he would mesh with Bo Pelini.
