After watching other Big 12 games this weekend, i'm feeling better.

Is anybody else feeling better after watching the other Big 12 teams this weekend?

OU-KSU....obviously these are two good teams, but i think we have a reasonable shot at beating both at home. Will we? I don't know about that, but they are beatable

Baylor...my gosh, we definitely can beat this team. They torched ULM through the air, but their defense has many holes.

KU.....yeah, they are who we thought they were. They still aren't very good. But believe it or not, this team kind of scares me in Lawrence.

West Virginia...who would have guessed somebody would hold them under 40? haha, yes you have to score over 30 to beat them, but Maryland played them well.

TCU...they have a stingy defense, but i haven't been impressed by their offense against 2 average defenses. It appears they are really missing that running back. Whats with the red zone turn overs, kinda sounds familiar.

Texas...well they are still scary to me, they were off this weekend.

Oklahoma State...also was off, but they gave up almost 60 points to a team that laid a goose egg against Oregon. Sure, Oregon is good, but Zona also struggled to score against TOLEDO (but the MAC is really good, right Hawks?)

Yes, we still have a daunting schedule, but i am feeling a lot better after actually being able to watch these teams play.

I'll feel better when our guys play a full game without fumbling a zone read or having Steele throw a high pass over the middle that gets picked off. Until then, I don't feel good about any of the games remaining on the schedule, even the one against KU.

I don't think that there is an elite team this year, but there are a bunch of really good ones. I'm looking at this as a whole lot of opportunities for the program to move forward.

Personally, I think if someone told you before any of the Big 12 games that ISU would have zero turnovers, I would say we won with the only exception being West Virginia, they look really tough. I think ISU can hang with anyone in the Big 12 as long as they limit (or eliminate preferably) their turnovers.

Yep, this thread has just been pwned.

Only West Virgina scares me. The good thing is that we get them at home and likely it will be cold which makes it winnable.

Our defense will give us a good shot in every game. As always, turnovers will kill us. Ask Landry Jones.

The goal I would love to see accomplished is a winning record in conference play. 8-4 (5-4) is very possible now. I'm excited to see what happens Saturday.

Re: After watching other Big 12 games this weekend, i'm feeling better.

I think all of the teams are beatable. I truly believe the conference race with no undefeated, and maybe having 4 teams with 2 losses and no team with only 1 loss. I am glad I don't have to figure out the tie breakers. Looking at our schedule, if we manage to win at home and TCU, KU on the road, that gives us losses to OSU and TU. Though this does sound rather unbelievable that we would end up with only 2 losses.

The defense will keep us in any game. The question is can the offense score enough points to win with out shooting itself in the foot with TO's, penalties or bad play calling? This offense will go as Steele goes.

Re: After watching other Big 12 games this weekend, i'm feeling better.

Yeah, it feels like the conference is wide open this year. Based on very early returns, there doesn't seem to be much separating nine of the ten teams (sorry, KU). I am by no means saying that ISU is going to win the Big 12 this year, but I am saying that we can expect a lot of churn at the top of the conference standings this year. It's going to be ridiculously competitive every week.

I didn't have to "see other teams" to feel better. I felt better with the strides I've seen this team has made. And I wasn't buying into everyone's paranoid hype about the schedule in the first place.
