    FBS teams scheduling FCS teams

I don't mind FBS teams playing a game v. an FCS team every year. Actually, I kinda like it from an FCS standpoint--gives a team experience, excitement, etc. But I was looking through some FBS schedules today and noticed that more than a few are playing two FCS teams this year. If I was a fan of one of those teams I would feel a little gypped. What gives?

I'm lazy, so would you mind naming some of the teams? Interested in seeing if they're high-rollers or bottom of (insert conference) teams since teams can only count 1 win against an FCS team toward their bowl eligibility.

I don't think anyone should play more than one. Can they count both FCS wins towards bowl eligibility now? If not, then I don't care how many they should schedule, it only hurts them.

Re: FBS teams scheduling FCS teams

Some i know were scheduling issues. Team that they were scheduled to play may have backed out, leaving them scrambling for anyone to play. While the second FCS team may not count towards bowl eligbility, its still a lot of money on the table if you just left that part of the schedule open.

Yeah, I don't think filling up on creampuffs is great, but at least they can't count toward bowls, which would be a crime.

I don't remember and I'm too lazy to look now, too, but it seems like it was a mix. Mostly mid to lower, though. Still, I don't like it. I do understand if someone backs out. Maybe we are just seeing the results of conference shake ups, I dunno.

I'm assuming but just in case you're serious...

    NW State - Southland (FCS)
    Texas State - WAC (FBS)
    New Mexico - MWC (FBS)

While it may have hurt us in the past, I don't like FCS wins counting for bowls period. If you choose to schedule an FCS team, you should still have to win 6 other games.

Instead of that what you really need to do is have something that looks at overall SOS instead of just raw w-l. There are plenty of ****** FBS teams, many worse than the upper FCS teams. You can play a whole schedule of these, be no better than a <6 win team that played a schedule in the SEC or Big 12, but you get a bowl because for some reason our system of eligibility for football focuses entirely on W-L. Everyone sees why we don't do that in basketball, the same needs to be factored for football.
