    E-cigarettes

I'm looking into buying an e-cigarette, but have a few questions if anyone has ever tried them. I tried my brothers this last weekend, and was fairly impressed.

First, he said he bought his at a BP gas station and they carry the cartriges too. I don't have a BP near me anywhere. Do any other gas stations carry these? Caseys, Kwickstar?

Second, after looking online, there are so many different companies, I'm kind of overwhelmed. Anybody have any luck with a certain brand? I was kind of intriged by Green Cigatettes, but they seem a little more expensive. However I like the idea of the two pieces instead of some brands that just seem too complicated.

    Any help is appriciated.

I wish I could remember the one I used. N Joy, I think? Anyway, it worked reasonably well (the basic kit was $100 or so with an extra rechargeable battery). The problem I had with them was that the connection would come loose from the case after a while, and then the wires would eventually screw off as it turned.

Other than that, when it worked, it worked.

Last time I tried an E-cigarette, all I got was the dial-up modem sound and was told I could not connect at this time.

    Re: E-cigarettes

I have a ProSmoke one sitting on my desk. I ordered it online after reading lots of reviews. It comes with two batteries and i think 4 flavored nicotine packs. Works well, battery lasts quite a while.

My only problem with it is that it isn't a real cigarette.

    Re: E-cigarettes

If you can, I would go to a tobacco outlet and see the different varieties they have. At a gas station you're going to get the least quality product and more than likely only one option.

If you're trying to quit using regular cig's I would definitely go to a outlet because the biggest problem I had was the feel of them. They are a lot heavier than regular cig's, and I know it doesn't sound like a big difference, but when trying to stop a habit like smoking, it became kind of annoying. It fits in your hand very differently.

Also you want to buy one that has a lot of options of flavors. I had the worst flavor possible. I'm not sure if they are all fit into each other or not, but I would imagine they don't. I would think at a outlet they employee would know which flavor would be closest to your normal smokes.

    Hopes this helps, good luck.

On April 13, 2012 I decided that I wasn't going to buy anymore (tobacco) cigarettes. At the time I just happened to have on hand an e-cig that I had bought just for the fun of it. I tried it and it seemed OK. It was a one-time use, disposable one and happened to be NJOY.

I found the NJOY kit and refills at Wal-Mart so started buying those. The kit had the charger, a couple of batteries and 5 refills. Wal-Mart ran out so I have been ordering them directly from NJOY.com. While traveling this summer I ran out so I bought Mistic e-cigs at Flying J's. I like them but online they only offer the 0% nicotine and say that all of their other products are out of stock. Looks suspicious, like they are going out of business or something.

So I am doing NJOY. I buy the refill cartridges online and I have three or four chargers so that I have fresh batteries at all times. I order the menthol flavored at the lowest nicotine content level of 0.6%.

My biggest kick is using them anywhere that I want-even in hospitals. Also I get a kick out of beating the state's exorbitant sales tax on real cigs.

They do send emails with coupons that you can use on their website. I just used one that was for $10 off on any order, just for taking a survey for them.

    Re: E-cigarettes

Thanks for all the responses so far. The more I research online, the more I like Green Smoke. It seems to be in the top 3 of everyones list. However I would like the conveinince of not having to buy on-line all the time, so if there are brands carried at Walmart, or any gas stations close to me that are high quality I would consider those too.

Actually, what I found was that e-cig manufacturers are not supplying the retail outlets anymore. I checked retail outlets all over the Des Moines area and all the way from Wyoming back to Des Moines and the story was always the same (and for all brands of e-cigs). The retail outlets could not get any products from their distributors, none, zero, zip.

My guess is that the manufacturer's are going exclusively to the online sales model except maybe in a few high-volume select areas of the country, like New York City maybe.

Thanks for that info. Based on that, I will probably just go with Green Smoke and purchase supplies on line.

You're not going to believe this. After you mentioned Green Smoke I googled them and found a retail outlet for them in Des Moines. They are at 3921 N. E. 14th Street. I decided a bit ago to go over there and check them out.

This is their first day of business and they were just setting up the store. The owners were there and the one partner and his wife are ISU grads and fans. The other partner lives in Altoona as do I. Long story short, I ended up being their first customer by buying their Green Smoke pro kit.

They are very nice people and are very knowledgeable about the e-cig scene.

They pack quite the punch. Its almost like an E-Cigar! No complaints thus far.

I was just at Central Iowa E-Cigs and they carry the Joye brand in addition to Green Smoke brand. The owners had me try ther Joye e-cig and wow that was something else! That is some heavy duty E-cig! As I mentioned above in my last post to peteypie, the owners are Cyclone grads and fans and are really setting up a very nice store (inside).
