I would think the northeast staff parking lot, looking toward the stadium/megatron scoreboard would be good. Get a little bit of everything that way with a good angle...stadium, scoreboard/logo, tailgating, jack trice statue, and jake building.
In the stadium. Maybe on the Jacobson balcony with the fans on the field.

Do we play Kansas at home on a Saturday? If we do, I can see if we are playing at a top 15 team level that gameday could be here.

Gameday usually comes to a "sexy" matchup, not necessarily a matchup with the best teams. At least that is how they do it in football unless it's that Ivy League rivalry week they always do.

My guesses for Gameday choice that weekend would be (in no particular order)
    Ohio State at MSU
    Texas at Oklahoma State
    Tennessee at Georgia
    Wisconsin (ugh) at Nebraska

OSU-MSU is (probably) the only one with double-ranking potential.

Of those 5 games, I would even put our game 5th and I'm a fan...

This is true. I do think this is one of those occasions where it actually is a compliment just to be in the discussion though.
