Ames business sells for $1 billion

I would think they would stay in Ames, it could affect some very high paying jobs:

I had the opportunity to meet Roger Underwood when I was an undergrad. Very intelligent businessman.

BASF has bought several businesses recently.

BASF doesn't make a lot of the products you buy. BASF makes a lot of the products you buy, better.

Time for Jamie to make a few calls to the major stakeholders.

"your name's not on a billion dollar business anymore.... how about an endzone?"

In this case they could not make a better product so they bought a major player in that niche. BASF's seed treatment development pipeline has consisted of a lot of dead ends the past 5 years.

Re: Ames business sells for $1 billion

I have several relatives that work there. Huge Cyclone Company. Jeff Becker and Roger Underwood are good people. Amazing how this company has grown.

Nervous to find out what happens.

I would love to see our students in the BASF endzone though:) Maybe throw an "AllState" Net up for kicks...lol

Re: Ames business sells for $1 billion

Unfortunately, Norwest Equity Partners had purchased Becker Underwood in 2004. So most of the funds are probably going to go to them. But if I was Pollard, I still might want to follow-up just in case some of that $1,000,000,000 was staying in Iowa.

Great news for those guys. Love to see some guys building a fortune in Iowa over the course of 27 years. Even better that it was in Ames. Congrats to those folks for cashing out.

Hopefully the business stays in Ames, would be a big hit to lose it.
