    No Country for Old Men

This movie comes out tomorrow. I read the book a year or so ago and it ROCKS!

It is by this dude named Cormac McCarthy. The Coen brothers direct it, how can you lose?

I just finished "The Road" by McCarthy. I was impressed enough to want to check out some of his other stuff. I will hold off seeing the movie until I read the book. Glad to hear you recommend it. (And glad to hear someone actually reads...seems to be a lost art.)

How as The Road? I have gotten into an American History reading craze lately, but I am ready to get back to some fiction.

I thought it was really good. It's a post-apocalyptic story about a man and his son trying to survive. A very simple tale, but just fills you with dread every page at the description McCarthy gives of this "new world". I think it won the Pulitzer Prize this year.

I've read all the Pretty Horses but haven't gotten around to the rest of the border trilogy or anything else by him. I don't know if everything by him is like All the Pretty Horses, but he has some interesting ideas about punctuation. It'll throw you for a little bit.

Yes he does, but I like the rhythm and prose that he uses if that makes any sense. Once you get going it makes it an interesting read.

I know, I like it too, I was just saying, it's a little bizarre at first, don't give up on it, it's a good time.

He's a bit like Roger Sprague in that respect.

Re: No Country for Old Men

I've been thinking of starting a guys only book club...how do you think that would fly??

I think it would be cool. I envision cigars, beer, doughnuts, and maybe discussion of an awesome book.

I am in an investment club that is basically an excuse for a night out with beer, pizza, and un-checked cursing.
