Good interview. One thing that hasn't been said is what a great throw Steele made to Horne for that last TD. That ball was on a rope and put in a perfect place. If he makes throws like that for us all year we will win some football games.

It was against FCS defenders. Can he do it against the big boys? Throw over the middle against Iowa hit James Morris right in the chest.

He put a zinger over the middle to Aaron Horne for a TD against Iowa, but that doesn't count right?

Or the one he dropped on a dime to Lentz against Tulsa throwing off his back foot and 50 yards out?

The entire first half at Iowa he was throwing the ball all over the field and making great throws against a decent FBS defense in a hostile environment. Get off the negative train.

I don't really care if he did it against Grandview, it was a great throw.

His throw over the middle that Morris picked was what, a 5 yard throw? It was a bad decision. The throw to Horne was near 30 yards on a line that hit him in stride right between the numbers.

Also against Iowa, I remember him completing a lot of passes over the middle, even for some big 3rd down pickups. Great throw to Tiller on 3rd and long. Great throw to Horne on 3rd/4th read on 3rd down for TD. Great throw to Bruns for first down.

1 throw over the middle that gets picked doesn't negate all his good throws over the middle

Going over the middle and making good short passes are what is going to make this team be be competitive and stay in games, but I wish (hope) that Jantz can get that long ball dialed in. Against Iowa he overthrew 3 or 4 long passes that were wide open. Making those throws count could open up the middle of the field a little more.

And to my recollection, we didn't go long at all against WIU, likely because we didn't have to, but I agree, we need a long completion or two just to show that we can do it. It will keep those safeties back and help in other areas of the offense.

One TD for one interception isn't getting it done. Anybody knows that.

Jantz is the best option. But a throw against Western Illinois is no sign of great things to come. That is what I was commenting on.

When that interception was made I thought it looked like it was a pass to the receiver a few yards behind the guy who tipped it. I'm glad to hear that confirmed. I am still not entirely behind the fact that both Steele and Barnett had interceptions on their last plays on Saturday. You would think the coaches would have given them each another series to end on something other than a turnover.
