Re: Mizzou and UNI joining MAC

This realignment stuff seems really stupid to me. Why don't the universities go and form conferences for football and then different conferences that make geographical sense for everything else? Splitting up schools is helping to kill wrestling. Plus, all the non-revenue sports are flying from places like Lubbock to Morgantown for in-conference games.

How is that Mizzou Athletic Department move to the SEC working out for you, Coach Smith?

Did I miss something? Did MizzU ask the B12 to accept for wrestling? Wow, that's hilarious if true - I would have loved to be a fly on that wall....

Wasn't there a thread awhile back about Mizzou not having a home for the wrestling team since SEC doesn't have wrestling and mentioned rejoining the Big 12 as a partial member?

Or was I just smoking something that day?

Re: Mizzou and UNI joining MAC

The quote makes it sound like the B12 wanted Mizzu wrestling to stay..not the other way around.

The league, though, hasn't sent Missouri an invitation to join as an affiliate member for wrestling only. And Smith doesn't expect it to do so, despite saying "the schools with wrestling teams want to keep Missouri."

"We are first and foremost an educational institution that values integrity, honesty and treating others with fairness and respect".

-ISU President Gregory Geoffroy; circa May 2003.
