How do you rate this class?.........I think probably McCarney's best! Hope a big crowd is there Saturday.. They have worked hard and been a big plus for ISU

This is not a rip on D-Mac....again...not a rip on D-Mac.

How in the hell can you say it's his best class? Especially when other classes have put guys in the NFL and it's a longshot for any of the current seniors to make it at the next level?

I agree with you that I hope the crowd is big...but the best class? Nope.

    Re: Seniors

It's really not McCarney's best, imo.

Regardless, I agree that we should turn out in force to support them. It's been frustrating at times, but they deserve it and more.

    Re: Seniors

They are close to the best but Reggie Hayward, James Reed, Dusitn Avey, Ben Bruns, Ryan Harklau, Andy Stendsrud and company was a pretty good senior class.

This one has my vote. It's exactly what I was thinking.

Technically would Berryman graduate this year? That would make it far more impressive.

    Re: Seniors

Had he not been suspended a full year, the '06 season would have been his last I think...or even '05.

I don't recall for sure and frankly, I'm not sure I want to.

    Re: Seniors

I think coming in it looked like a really good class but going out it was a big disappointment. Lots of let downs and under achieving is what I will probably remember this class by.

Mac would probably be a legend if he would have consistently signed the talent that he did in the 03 class. Besides the 5 year guys still here, it also included Brant, Curvey, Berryman, Jackson, & Wright. Kurtis Taylor was also in this group, but got another year due to his injury. There were also a couple of decent guys, Allen & West, who didn't make grades. The biggest disappointments were all of the OL washouts. It also would have been huge if Mac could have struck gold with a kicker in this group.

What hurt this class more than anything is that there was not a strong class right before it or after it to help mesh into a strong team. They also had to endure more than their share of incompetent assistant coaches.

    Re: Seniors

This thread got me interested in looking at the different recruiting classes. Looking back at 04 it is kinda funny how we got we got 5 three star RB's in Tyease Thompson, Brandon Gunn, Webster Patrick, Greg Coleman, and Scales. 1/5 is not a very good turnaround. It is funny to look back at classes 3 or 4 years down the road and see what happened.

But for the best I will go with the Hayward and company.

As I stated in another thread, we would not have Gene Chizik right now if it wasn't for the optimism that this year's seniors helped generate in 2004 and 2005. Had Mac followed the 2-10 season in 2003 with another two or three win season in 2004, he would have been gone two years earlier and ISU would have hired someone else. I'm glad things worked out the way they did. This is the most optimistic I've been since the moments leading up to the KU overtime loss two years ago.
