We will always play 9 Big 12 teams, Iowa, 1 FCS team, and 1 mid-major (MAC or C-USA or something). Can't give up that FCS game when it is a much safer bet than scheduling Tulsa 10 years down the line and having them actually be good.

We had record attendance and had a 34 point victory. What's not to like?

I wonder what we are paying UNI to come in. If it's less than other opponents available then it make even more sense. The payouts for cream puffs are out of control IMHO.

There's a lot I agree with here. I think, over time, the purple iowa problem is going to solve itself. We can't pay them enough to keep up with what is going to go down in college football over the next ten years.

Don't you think we should strive to field a team that can play reserves against UNI...an FCS team?!!!!! I can't believe the number of people who are fine with mediocre.

Considering Wisconsin and Iowa couldn't, i dont think that's a reasonable expectation. We have 10 other BCS games, we don't need our one opportunity at a true FCS creampuff to not actually be one.

We have 9 conference games and Iowa every year. That gives us 2 more games. We are allowed to schedule an FCS opponent, and we would be dumb not to. They are all the same to me, and we shouldn't be looking for a variety of FCS opponent. The 12th game we are doing exactly what you suggested. Tulsa this year and next. Then Toledo in '14 and '15. Then San Jose State in '16 and '17. Then Akron in '18 and '19. Then UNLV in '20.

That just shows you how bad a state this program has been in. Blowing out our non-con patsies should be the rule, not the exception.

Re: Scheduling agreement with Northern Iowa

On a somewhat related note, I would just like to see 7 home games every year. We shouldn't be playing 6 home/6 away anymore, like we will be doing next year.

We have 5 home/5 away locked in with the Big 12 schedule plus Iowa, every season. An FCS game is an automatic home game. We should be paying a mid-major to come to JTS every season for the 7th home game... not scheduling home-and-homes.

So if they are "all the same", shouldn't we be looking for the cheapest bidder and the easiest win? What are we paying UNI as compared to what we just paid WIU (reportedly 350k) or NDSU in the past? If we are getting them at a discount, then I'm all for it. Somehow I doubt that's the case.

Well, competing for one. One thing I have always loved about ISU is we don't back down from anyone. We have had a lot of disadvantages over the years, but we never have given into fear of losing. If that was the case, we would be in a smaller conference, wouldn't have played iowa after the early 80's, wouldn't ever play UNI, etc. I like winning, but I don't need a glorified spring game in the fall. Will UNI beat us?....occassionally....but, not very often and likely those years the UNI game won't be the difference between a good or bad season. Last week was a packed house but I don't think anyone would argue that was a great atmosphere.

Boohoo. If ISU can't consistently beat UNI, then that's us being bad, which is unacceptable at this point.
