    NIU's awesome defense

Northern Illinois has given up 26 points to Army with 9:53 to go in the 3rd quarter. Army must have one hell off an offense (says Ed Podolak someplace right now).

The Army must be using to tanks to drill through the line.

Color commentator: "Right now, Northern's defense doesn't have discipline."

But I suppose you'll have that with the toughest defense Iowa will face all year.

Army down to the 9 yard line. Maybe it's bend but don't break? Nope. TD Army.

Army goes for 2 and completes it to a WIDE open receiver.

    Not liking this, go NIU.

Why can't some fans realize that this makes us look bad. I wish NIU, Tulsa and Iowa beat the socks off everyone they play this year.

NIU doing bad does nothing to make us look bad. Also, good teams can have close wins on the road against bad teams, it happens. A win is a win. What we do the rest of the season is much more important.

    Re: NIU's awesome defense

The truth is that Iowa's offense played much better against ISU last week, they are just really bad. I am afraid it will be Purple Rain in Iowa City today.

UNI is going to be a team that could compete in the NFL with their stout defense when the beat the herkies today.

Everyone that isn't a brain damaged Hawk fan knows that ISU should have beat Iowa by 30 last week. A win is a win, but that one should have been a cake walk instead of a nail biter.

we are 3 teams and 2 weeks removed from a connection to this game. It has zero bearing on us. Nobody is watching NIU/Army and drawing a conclusion about Iowa State... except you. Don't worry about it.

Yes but it is early in the year and teams have bad games. Who cares if we barely won and the Hawks go on to finish the year 1-11. I don't think people around the nation are going to sit around at the end of the year and say how bad we are becasue we only beat Iowa at the beginning of the year 9-6 if we are a 7-8 win team. Just win thats all that matters.
