    Dedric Willoughby interview on Cyclones.com

Nice interview with Dedric on Cyclones.com. Still my favorite Cyclone in any sport. Those were two wild and fun years for mens basketball. So many great nailbitting games. That Big 8 tournament was like the moon landing, always remember where you were at when it happened. Pretty cool he came back to Ames to get his degree I think.

Re: Dedric Willoughby interview on Cyclones.com

Willoughby is a member of the alltime great Cyclone starting five, in my book.

Let's subtract 13 games from the football season and add them to the basketball season.

He is definitely deserving of all the praise. Great 3-pt shooter, a good vertical so he could create his own shot and shoot over guys, and could defend.

Re: Dedric Willoughby interview on Cyclones.com

Loved watching him play. Also a shout out to Dedric's mom.

If I remember right Dedric played at New Orleans under Floyd and when Floyd took the ISU job he said he wouldn't accept any transfers following him. Then Dedric's mom called Floyd and said "yes you will accept at least one transfer."

Probably partially just talk, but I always thought it was a good story.

Re: Dedric Willoughby interview on Cyclones.com

The story about his mother contacting coach Floyd is a fact. I was Dedric's next door neighbor in college and have attended nearly every home basketball game with him for the past 2 seasons. Great guy and great ambassador for our basketball program. Hope to see him in some type of coaching role for us in the near future.

Every game he takes time to get a picture with someone. Class act!!!

Saw him stopped in the concourse at the football game last Sat taking pictures. I actually saw Jacy Halloway first--how many Cyclone fans could pick him out of a crowd 15 years later? ;) Dedric was certainly a favorite--my claim to fame is had class with him and he was always asking me for a piece of gum.

I sure hope you didn't give it to him; improper benefits and all.

Re: Dedric Willoughby interview on Cyclones.com

I was a student for Tim Floyd's second season. I remember going to the first exhibition game thinking,"Who the hell are these guys? I don't recognize a single one!"

By the end of that night, DW was already a fan favorite. I still remember that silky smooth jumper.

I had an 8am class with Jacy. I remember marveling at his dedication. He'd be there no matter what, even if they'd played at Texas the night before.

Re: Dedric Willoughby interview on Cyclones.com

Dedric was in a summer class I took the summer of '96. It met 2 nights/week for 3 hours, for probably two months. About halfway through the summer, Dedric was MIA for the class a couple times. The following class, I walked in and saw Dedric sitting towards the front, looking prepared. At the back of the classroom sitting by himself was Tim Floyd. Dedric didn't miss another class after that, and became a model student.

    cool story brah.
