    Suggestions for pre-game bars !

Our group is usually in Ames tailgating by 7:00am, but we have decided to forgo tailgating this weekend and are looking for some bars to go to that open early in the morning. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Umm, there is only one choice on gamedays and its Tip Top.

What did tailgating ever do to you buddy? She gives and gives and you treat her with such disrespect. Just don't come crying back to tailgating when the bar leaves you feeling all cold and distant. The bars are for a nightime fling - tailgating is forever.

I've gone to Welch Ave, got a pitcher and some pizza pit pizza before. It was dead though, we were probably the only ones in there.

yeah we have gone to the pit also.

Honestly, if you are wanting to go out and not make a big deal of the tailgate, how about just getting a 12 pack, a cooler, and then stopping by pit and getting some pizzas and drive into the lots? We have done that when we just have no energy to do all the tailgate prep.

As a matter of fact, tomorrow you should all tailgate TWICE as much, since you can hang out after the game and tailgate until the basketball game starts! Not to mention, Daylight Savings Time makes it more like tailgating at 8 instead of 7.

The bars should be empty tomorrow morning, on the last football tailgating day of the year!

This isn't Europe or Mexico...you can't get a beer at McDonalds. I don't know why people would rather sit inside then tailgate (unless the weather is bad), but if I WERE to go to the bar pre-game, the Tip Top is the only choice.

I wouldn't, I am out there at 7:30 grilling and drinking some frosties. I am just makeing the statement that if I had a choice, I would choose Mickey D's over the Tip Top. Sorry to step on anyone's toes.
