    Big 10 announcers

Did anyone else catch one of the announcers say that "Steele Jantz seems to touch the ball every Iowa State offensive play."

Thats the QB's job I think

    Re: Big 10 announcers

I was not a big fan of the broadcast yesterday. Drove me nuts on the half ending field goal because they didn't show or say how long it would be (through a whole timeout) until they were lined up to kick it.

Thought the same thing. I looked to my wife and said, "The QB always touches the ball on every play." That is a Big 10 education for you.

    Re: Big 10 announcers

The announcers were so pro Iowa...I know its the big10 network but at least show a little professionalism. The best part was when White took that dump pass for like 40 yards and you can hear one of the announcers go "oh oh...."

    Re: Big 10 announcers

    First quarter problems:

-The clock was impossible to see
-The play clock wasn't shown. Example: Times running out for Iowa State, their going to need a timeout!!!" HOW MUCH TIME IS LEFT?

And perhaps the biggest WTF of the first quarter:

Don't show the refs during penalties.

    Re: Big 10 announcers

My biggest "WTF?" moment with the announcers was the play that Jantz swung it out to Shontrelle and he got hit behind the LOS by Morris. Then the ball came out but the refs had already whistled the play. The ball would have easily been recovered by Shontrelle had it been a fumble, though.

Announcers would not stop saying "Let's see a review, that could be Iowa ball!" until the replay showed, not even remotely close.

Kinnick Stadium is one crappy stadium to have a TV broadcast. The angle is horrible. Not to mention the shadows

Oh, this drove me nuts. I remember on the personal foul wondering if they were ever going to say what happened.

I was joking most of the game that these guys had a guide book of cliches, that were all indexed. All they had to do what look at what quarter it was, reference that with what down it was, and that gave them a football cliche to say about it. And it all started on the personal foul penalty, all of us in the room were saying, "STFU about your football knowledge and tell us what the penalty is and who it's against, please?''

And the camera angles, holy crap I felt like I was watching a high school game that someone's dad taped.

The whole production was awful. Chuck Long is also an idiot.

    Re: Big 10 announcers

Regarding the Jantz comment, I'm pretty sure he just meant that it seemed that Jantz kept the ball on every read play.

Was it just me, or was there no first down line at the beginning of the game. LOS line, but no first down line. I know where the line of scrimmage is dammit!

    Re: Big 10 announcers

The production of the game wasn't great (missed plays, etc.) but the biggest problem behind the mic was Chuck Long. Kugler is a pro and I'm starting to like Martin as an analyst, but Long is not a broadcaster and clearly couldn't handle being neutral. Case and point: Chuck Long reaction on the 42 yard screen pass to James White, "Uh oh." LOL

    Re: Big 10 announcers

I've never heard so many compliments about plays that didn't work. Iowa would have an incompletion - "that was a good pass and let me tell you why." I can take Big 10 homers because obviously they have to sell their product, but when Iowa screws up you can't just pretend like it was a good play.

Among all of the homerish behaviour of the booth crew and the ridiculous comments made this was by the far the most ******** portion of the broadcast.

Also, "That was a good overthrow."
