Clones attendance at Kinnick? Tiller? Clones defense!

For those at the game, was there a large Cyclone crowd in Kinnick? It looked like it on TV with the red mixed in. Crowd noised seemed non existent on TV as well. Iowa really couldn't gain traction to get the crowd in it, but on TV it sounded like a mausoleum. I don't recall much outside of the 1st qtr where it seemed like the crowd was real loud. thoughts there?

I felt ISU didn't have many bullets in the chamber yesterday inside the 10 with play-calls that worked. Rather predictable imo...perhaps just execution and Iowa's D-line meeting the challenge. How bout Jerome Tiller on some jump balls, or have him get physical like Money did to get some scores? He's done nothing but catch everything thrown to him. He needs to be a red zone target for Jantz.

Clones are now 17-1 when holding opponents to under 24 points. The lone loss was to Mizzou(14-0)
ISU has held 5 conf opponents to 10 or less, and can add a BCS opponents in Iowa to that tally.

As much as we've always expected the offense to take off, lets face it, this team is going to have to shut down some offenses. And i think they will. The saving grace? I think ISU can continue to execute at a higher level this year than in previous seasons. The game yesterday showed there's lots to work on with the offense, but the talent level is better than before.

Agree with getting Tiller more looks especially in the red zone

Couple other things, this game reminded me a lot of the 09 game vs Nebraska, but in reverse for us. The INT by Knott at the end was very reminiscent of Jessie Smith's pick to finally finish off Nebraska that day. That image immediately came to mind when Knott hauled in that pass.

Adding on...I recall last season how "Pro-ISU" the crowd was in JTS. My friend who is a Hawk fan gave us some major props for really making it a home game with the sea of red and overall crowd noise.

Reminded me of all those Nebraska and Iowa home crowds in Ames back in the 80's/90's and how that doesn't fly any more.

Tiller catches with his hands as opposed to his chest which is excellent. I've heard the same about Bundrage but he has gotten even fewer snaps thus far

Love Tillers contribution. Glad to see that he stuck it out and is helping the team where he is needed.

Re: Clones attendance at Kinnick? Tiller? Clones defense!

Tiller has been a absolute revelation so far. We need to work him in more often and make sure he's a first read option because he has been so reliable thus far.

He should certainly be in more red zone packages too. But half of the problem in the red zone is Jantz not being patient and calm enough.

Overall I am delighted for JT he has stuck it out and seems to be enjoying his new role as a wide-out

We need to incorporate that fade route in the red zone that we had with Money last year back into our offense... You'd think Tiller would be the man for that job

My friend and I were just discussing how you know they've got a reverse pass from Tiller in that playbook and we're gonna see it at some point this year.

Tiller is so far removed from being our QB that I can see the element of surprise being introduced here somewhere.

Speaking of that I was really surprised ISU didn't try to run a trick play in the 2nd half during all those possessions where ISU was stuck around their 40 or so. Of course looking back, Rhoads seems to save the trickery for teams that are better than ISU, when he needs to get an edge....so of course he didn't call for such a play vs Iowa.

Yeah, he has to have a bigger role. His hands are amazing. Like glue.

Not having a healthy Jeff Woody is killing us in the red zone.

Yes. Who would have thought his only "trip" to the end zone so far would be our own?!
