    Release: Palo suspended indefinitely

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State men’s basketball player Bubu Palo has been suspended indefinitely after the athletics department learned Friday of his arrest related to an incident last spring.

“I am extremely disappointed to learn of this allegation,” Head Coach Fred Hoiberg said, “and he is suspended indefinitely for violating our department’s discipline policy.”

The athletics department will continue to monitor the situation before making further decisions regarding Palo’s status.

Palo, an Ames native, played in 21 games and averaged 4.0 points per game in 2011-12. A former walk-on, Palo earned a scholarship in the second semester last season.

    Good job Fred.

I really hope this isn't the beginning of a terrible weekend for ISU.

This was the only thing that could be done. If he is convicted of this, then I can't see how he could be brought back.

    Re: Release: Palo suspended indefinitely

This is tough to hear. You have to respect Bubu's tenacity in gaining a scholly and minutes on the floor, but there's no excuse for this if the allegations are true. Thoughts go out to the victim and their family.

    Re: Release: Palo suspended indefinitely

My recollection is that ISU has an athletic department policy that leads to an automatic suspension in cases like this.

Right action by Fred, we will all have to just wait and see what comes from the investigation.

A real shocker, sure hope it's not true. To get to this point though, not good.

disappointing to hear, hope it isn't true. I think Bubu would have gotten some decent minutes this year too.

That's too bad for Bubu. It's too bad for the victim. A bad situation all around.

So it's not official athletic department policy to ask the FCA to step in and try to broker a resolution through prayer? I know that has worked well for other institutions.
