"Thee" voice of the hawks or "A" voice of the hawks?

Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating.

Good point to clarify. Iowa used to have multiple independent networks covering their games (Zabel, Gonder, Brooks, etc.) before the U of I took it over and consolidated several years ago.

For purposes of this question, the answer is "either."

You pretty much gave away the answer with that clarification.

    Re: Thursday Trivia: Pete Taylor

Well, it's been close enough to two hours and the responses seem to have dried up.

As the majority of you guessed, the answer was TRUE. And it was for ONE DAY.

In 1984 both the Cyclones and Hawkeyes were playing in the Hawaii Rainbow Classic basketball tournament. On Christmas Day 1984, Pete and Eric called the Iowa game vs. Maryland, as the Hawk radio crew was off covering the Iowa football team, which was playing in the Freedom Bowl vs. Texas.

As a side note, ISU blew an 11 point halftime lead vs. Washington and if they'd won they'd have faced the Hawks in the tournament just three weeks after having beaten them 54-50 at Carver.

For those who said TRUE, were you guessing or did you know?

I guessed false but I wouldn't have been surprised had he done something in college.

It was a good question. I didn't enter but I would have guessed yes, thinking that he had done it while in college. I never would have guessed that it was during his time with the Cyclones.

I said yes, but thought for sure it was during his college days as well.

Nice question. How did you stumble over that little tidbit?

Believe he also did an Okie St MBB game once also.

I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

I think every PBP person in the Big 12 did an OSU MBB game after the plane crash in 2001 that killed 10, including their announcer.

    R.I.P everybody.

PETE TAYLOR was a man of Honor Before Victory. And that was why he was the main reason I hung on as a Cyclone fan from his Cyclone beginnings. He told it like it was and did'nt even use a titanium P.C. nutcup when we sucked ****.

The mid-70's Nebraska victories, memories make me tear up every time I think of Pete.

He will always be my favorite "Cyclone"... he is why I still exist as one !
