Selling my house of 17 years on Friday

My kids have always lived in this small house and am now finally upsizing a bit. I have to admit to being quite sad about it. Countless memories in that ol' shack. It's past time to go but still. I can tell that my oldest is having a hard time with it. A week after the move and all will be well.

Memories are priceless and I'm sure you have plenty of pictures to help remember the good times.

    Congrats on the the upgrade.

Excessive intake of alcohol, we all know, kills brain cells, but naturally it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers.

Good luck and be sure not to throw out all the Cyclone memorabilia.

Re: Selling my house of 17 years on Friday

Ended up with the house after my divorce and my daughters, who have both since gone off to college and graduated, won't let me move out since they both grew up in it. So here I am.

I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

Grow a pair. Maybe you would still be married.

You may have ended up with the house and your daughters, but you obviously lost your family jewels.

Whatever Dr. Phil, or you're probably Dr. Laura, neither without a pair, but both always quick with the judgmental patronizing descent from superiority, when you know absolutely nothing about who you are talking about.

Neither without a pair, so they both have a pair. Weird.

Sorry, someone had to do it.

Re: Selling my house of 17 years on Friday

The problem with moving out of your childhood home, is when some scumbag moves in. I can not even stand to look at the old house. There are literally junk vehicles in the yard, the house is run down, the lawn and trees are overun. Mom and Dad took so much pride in making it as nice as they could. Now I just wish it would burn to the ground so I do not have to see it in the condition it is.

My parents are still in the house I grew up in, and it will be a sad day when they sell it. I just hope its a nice family who moves in and takes care of it whenever it happens

This is true of the 2 houses I grew up in Chicago in. Very workingclass homes but my dad has always been handy and taken pride in how the house looked and functioned. Sad to see them fall into disrepair 10 years later.

We have had a few moves since having kids. Teach move was tough. But one thing that they have grown to love is going into the attic and writing on the back of a rafter "xxxxxx lived here 1998-2002", or whatever dates may have been. To this day each still talk about going back into those houses at some point later in life to see "if they're still part of the house".

We've been lucky that even though they were crushed with the news of each pending move that they would later proclaim "best move ever ". Good luck. I cried my eyes out driving away from the house where the kids were born.
