How early is to early to start recruiting a kid?

I know a 6th grader in my community that is on my sons football team. He is a legacy Hawkeye and will be a big time athlete in football. His mom is a former d1 athlete as well. Just curious as to when coaches actually start looking at kids.

Nobody but HB knows for sure. You pretty much know nothing....like Knownothing would like to say.

I would think that they would want avoid recruiting him before 3PM, so they don't interfere with his school day.

I would think they wouldn't even look at a kid until after puberty. Probably wouldn't start the recruiting process until the kid was a freshman (making phone calls, sending letters, etc)

I think LSU just got a commit from a 7th grader. I think USC did the same thing a couple years ago.

It depends on the position. QB is the first position to get looked at.
