Cheney Impeachment Resolution Sent to House

Interestingly the Republicans supported the measure so as to bring the discussion onto the House Floor where it could be debated. The Democratic leadership is not supporting the measure because they don't want the measure debated on the House Floor.

That should prove nicely embarrassing for both sides. Great that they have all this spare time. Luckily the world is all sunshine and roses, and things are steaming along nicely.

Yay, look at them doing things to help the country....

In the most recent political call that I got I was asked what the most important issue was to me in the upcoming election. My answer - I'm looking for a candidate who is not a *********...

    Seneca Wallace.

ok, impeach Cheney? Maybe I am not following, but ahhh what did he do? Good use of time btw, by the time this all played out it would be 4-6 months before he was gone anyway. I hate all politicians.

Lied and misled us into war. Leaked the name of a CIA operative. Was intoxicated and shot a man while hunting.

Might as well say I tried. I do not believe that he lied to get us into the war. Honestly, after getting grilled over 9/11 for not taking disjointed pieces of information and putting together a full story, I think our intelligence services gathered up similar disjointed pieces of information and presented a case against Iraq. Saddam intended for everyone to think that he had all kinds of weapons, as he thought this would be a deterrent. Anyway, not going to keep you from going Oliver Stone on us, but like I said, I tried.

Ok, I will give you the leak, but the other two are pure crap. He had a hunting accident, who cares. And lied to go to war? That is for the tin foil hat crowd. They acted on the best intelligence had at the time, and it may have been wrong (we will never know).

Has anybody seen the media reports that Cheney and Obama are eighth cousins?

There's an old saying you can pick your friends but not your relatives.

It's easy to look back at it and say "yes, it appears in hindsight that it was incorrect", but you can't expect people who are presented with reasonable intelligence from reasonable sources to dig to the bottom of it when that's not their job.

Taking into account Iraq's recent history, their repeated unwillingness to comply with UN resolutions and inspectors, and their past abuses, any intelligence presented that would support activities congruent with those behaviors would be quite easy to believe.

This is not to say that things weren't read into the intelligence that weren't there. The intelligence leading up to 9-11 can be pieced together in retrospect too, but to stop it pre-emptively would have required reading more into it than was there, as well.

The job of the president and his staff was to make decisions based on information that he was presented. It's not to hop in his camaro like Jim Rockford and go investigate himself.

I think the Spider Robinson quote, "Never attribute to malice, that which can be reasonably explained by stupidity." nicely sums up my opinions on the matter, and to much of what goes on in the world in general.

You must have come down from the UFO also if you believe there is anything close to "high crimes and misdemeanors" here.

Cheney is STILL going around saying that there is a link between 9/11 and Iraq. Now if you believe THAT, well there is no hope for you. Perhaps you should read The Downing Street Memo. The guy was drunk when the accident occurred. Nice job keeping him hidden for 24 hours so he could sober up. Cheney was looking for a reason to invade Iraq from the beginning. Cheney didn't just act on intelligence, he twisted intelligence to support his own views. I think that would fit the definition of MISLEAD.

Look at the everchanging reasons for going to War in Iraq. Why should they continually be changing? There is a reason Cheney's approval rating is at 18%. Even lower than Congress and Bush.

That being said. I still think it would be stupid to drag the country through another impeachment process. The Last One was stupid enough.

Ok, so you posess evidence that says there is no chance of any possible connection? I would love to see it. Maybe the guy truly believes there is, I am not personally sure, I think the truth lies somewhere in the between what the dems say and what Bush/Cheney say. I still believe there was a WMD program in Iraq, and that Sadamm knew we were going to attack and getting rid of those WMD's was his ultimate revenge on the US.
