    Anyone else frustrated with ESPN?

Watching highlights lat night and this morning gets real old real quick
    - Highlights of the games only focus on the winning team. They aren't really game summaries, they are really just highlights of he winning team. There are usually 2 teams in every game, but you wouldn't know hat watching ESPN

    - How many different commentator teams can review the same highlights? College gameday, Robert Smith and a no name, etc., etc. It might be interesting if they covered different aspects, but it is just different (only really the same) opinion of the same plays.

    - How desperate is ESPN to christen the Big10 as "elite" again? The hype before this weekend was really annoying. After PSU and MU lost and WI and UofI struggled, hopefully ESPN back off the Big10 propaganda train.

You would think that with all the time they devote to college football, they could get a little more creative or broad with their coverage

If you are still watching ESPN for anything other than a live game, I don't know what to tell you.

Once Iowa State beats Iowa, someone will need to get the video of the Big 10 homers counting the victory as "lucky"

I saw plenty of focus on losing teams Michigan and Penn State. You'd think they won...

I'm with e11en. I gave up on ESPN a long time ago. The only thing it's good for is live sports. Oh.. and Samantha Steele.

I hate ESPN. Have for many years. Their love fest for Penn State the last few weeks has made me ill. For some moronic reason they think everyone loves and is rooting for Penn State. The only people rooting for Penn State is Penn State fans. Everyone else is rooting for their failure.

Re: Anyone else frustrated with ESPN?

I also think that the Fox presentation of the game lacked a lot too. The announcers kept talking about general things, some of them of questionable relevance, and rarely announced who was going out of the game and who was coming in. They don't pay attention to lineup changes, and that, to me, is really annoying. You get to see the forest but rarely the trees that make it up is the clumsy way I would sum up the presentation.

Of course they are. As a conference with a major population base, they would love it for the big 10 to be great, and even building the perception of it being great is good for their ratings. Glad Alabama beat Michigan as we never wouldve heard the end of it if the big 10 had beaten both Alabama and ESPN's other darling team, Boise State. (also, glad BSU lost, as now we shouldn't have to hear how 'deserving' they are despite beating absolutely nobody worth a damn)

The big 10 was damn lucky it escaped looking worse this weekend. 8 of its 12 opening games could easily have ended up as losses (and some did).

Most sports commentators seem to have some myopic vision of Penn St as being treated too harshly. Putting sport above all else is exactly what let that horrendous crime go on so long. Their fans and players didn't do anything, but they're still displaying a culture which allowed something like that to go on.

Re: Anyone else frustrated with ESPN?

I was so tired of the radio coverage and game day as a whole. Just big 10, big 10, big 10. There was a little SEC and Pac12 talk, ND, but that was it. Only big 12 team that was mentioned was West Virginia.

ESPN concentrate on major markets, marquis teams, topics for casual fans, and those they have broadcast contracts with?

    No way...

Threadjack--so many potentially great stories in the NFL this year, but wall-to-wall probably-going-to-be-sub-.500 New York Jets coverage about a backup quarterback... *sigh*

Re: Anyone else frustrated with ESPN?

I quit watching ESPN other than their live-game coverage a long time ago. I used to enjoy GameDay on Saturday morning, but I got tired of hearing the same unbalanced opinions every weekend. If I wanted to watch that kind of blatant homerism and brand pimping, I would have turned to Fox News.

ESPN is turning into a political topic - you either like it or hate it and no one is going to change your mind about it.
