    Pac-12 Network

So I watched the Stanford-SJSU football game on the Pac-12 Network tonight and noticed something rather odd, almost 90% of the commercials were for either the network itself or the Pac-12 conference.

Seems like all the $$$ Larry Scott promised the Pac-12 schools may be a little tough to come by if you can't find advertisers.

Advertising is secondary to getting on TV sets on the basic tier. Same model as the Big 10 network.

Rotel and Barbasol are not paying Big 10 schools 20 mil per.

Exactly, it is the exact same model as the BTN. Get your product on tv sets and the advertising will follow.

    Re: Pac-12 Network

As others have said, the ad revenue will come once the network establishes itself. The conference should be worrying about actually getting the network on tv sets at this point. They still don't have an agreement with DirecTV which has already meant DTV subscribers in AZ missed ASUs first game on Thursday night. Fans aren't going to be happy as long as crap like that continues and the conference needs to get their business in order beyond telling people to switch cable providers.

    Re: Pac-12 Network

I thought the plan was to have six "mini-networks" for pairs of teams and a digital service ahead of any network short of ESPN?

    Re: Pac-12 Network

The big carriers just want to carry the main Pac 12 Network channel...but the conference is trying to push them to have all the regional channels as well. That's not a fight Larry Scott can win because the Pac 12 doesn't have that kind of national demand. I say the big carriers like DTV and Dish should put the main channel in the sports pack and then if fans want one of the regional channels (like say an Oregon fan in Florida or a USC fan in New York) they can pay extra and it can be added into the sports pack
