Re: 9 Crazy Things People Have Found In Their Walls

I think I've posted this before, but I have a friend who's parents bought an old house in St. Paul (MN). Back in the 30's, St. Paul was a popular weekend hang out location for the Chicago mafia. When they (my friend's parents) went to gut and remodel the kitchen, the found about $30K in cash, a bunch of old Tommy guns among various other "artifacts" in the wall cavities.

They built a small display cabinet and now it's a great conversation piece when they have visitors.

Re: 9 Crazy Things People Have Found In Their Walls

I thought the story about finding cash was interesting because of all the people who were fighting over it. I guess from what I could find the actual finder of the property has the right to the claim. I am curious how much the family of the former owner received. I think they would be out of luck.

Re: 9 Crazy Things People Have Found In Their Walls

When my parents moved into their house some years back I found a stamp and coin collection in a crawl space. It was pretty good sized. My parents of course took the high road and gave it to the previous owners, but I bet it was worth a pretty penny.

Well, I doubt people care about the findings of their septic system or the garbage the city clears out of the sewage.

I found a few pages of a Penthouse (I think) in my crawlspace behind the master bath. House was built in 1994. Pics = Yuck!
