Re: Political correctness run amok - 3 year old asked to change name

He wasn't asked to change his name. He was asked to change how he signs (as in sign language) his name.

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that. ~ George Carlin

There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life:
The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves Orcs. ~ John Rogers

I must say I got a little resistance when I signed my son up for kindergarten, all of a sudden Bazooka McBomberson 3TrueFans isn't an "age appropriate" name now.

Oh well, that makes all the difference. Mods, can we change the spelling of his username to CloneAge because I don't like A&M and hate the word Aggie??? Thanks in advance. After all, it's all in how you pronounce it...

Fair enough, but to a kid who has learned his name and doesn't hear, it would be the equivalent of you being asked to change your name from CloneAggie to C-L-O-N-E-A-G-G-I-E. You need to spell it rather than say it every time. What kind of message is that sending to the youngster (a three year old!) about him as a person?

I don't care if you are black or white I don't care if you're rich or poor
I don't care where you come from whether its Texas Florida, California or
right here in the state of Iowa. I don't care about any of that.
But what I did care about was moving forward from that day on
that we were one team. That we were unified and we were one team.
And you have bought into it hook, line and sinker
And for that, men, I am so proud
