    Des Moines apartment help!!

I found a great apartment in West Des Moines but it is very expensive. After Cable/internet, and electricity it is going to be close to $900/mo. BUT it is amazing, 1,100 sq ft. 2 beds, and 1.5 baths + storage, W/D in the unit. Is that totally crazy???

    If it is...any suggestions?

What is more important? An apartment or good sporting event tickets?

You could probably buy a townhome in Johnston for about the same money. I know where you could find one

I live in a STUDIO apartment that is less than 700 square feet for $850. I think you have a good deal, even for Des Moines.

yikes, buy a townhome if you are going to stay there for a while. That is pricey not to own.

    Re: Des Moines apartment help!!

$900 for what you describe honestly doesn't sound too out of the question depending on the neighborhood. One problem with buying a townhouse instead of renting is it can be really hard to unload a townhouse after you live in it for a couple years. I'd say to get a 2br, 1.5bath apartment with that much space for $900 sounds like a good deal.

That's a pretty good price for that kind of place. I have a friend who has been trying to sell a townhouse for about a year and no bites yet. Right now, the market around DSM is flooded with TH's for sale.

    Re: Des Moines apartment help!!

I seriously hate renting apartments. I feel like I throw way too much money away. Thats why I'm in the process of buying a house. I know I'm going to live here for awhile, but for the price and size for that apartment, it really doesn' sound too bad.

I had a three bedroom, two bath townhome in Clive with a garage, walking distance from Mickeys, Drink, etc right out of college for $750 a month... Shop around...
