    Updated weight over analysis thread.

Just looking through the roster and here are a few things that stood out to me:

*Steele Jantz is 6'3" 225. Compare that to Collin Klein who is 6'5" 226 according to a quick google search. ( And I guess a comparison to Barnett could be useful. He is 6'1" 198.

*Maggit is smaller than I remember at 6'3" 244, about the same size as Willie Scott who I considered undersized at 6'2" 242

    * Our underclassmen have some really, really nice size. Especially our LBers, Dline, and Oline. Really encouraging considering McKnight seems to be very good at putting on good football weight as opposed to just adding weight for the sake of it.

Yeah he is. And I think he can still put a bunch of weight on without losing athleticism. His frame and ability to put on weight is outrageous. I wish he could've redshirted SO MUCH.

These underclasssmen all impress me with their size: Aka 6'3 277, Bevins 6'5 269, Burton 6'5 290, Cousin 6'2 289, Dunning 6'5" 275, White 6'1 233, Duaron Williams 6'3 298, West 6'4 216 as a WR is huge (too bad about the injury).

And that is just true freshmen!

I like the size Aka, Bevin, Irving and Mitchell. Future DL, looking super promising....

Aka's twitter pic makes him look huge for a true frosh. I gutters the reason he's moving to DT for a reason.

I know there is speculation about that, but I haven't seen anything that said that was a for sure move. But at 6'3 277 I think that could be a good move.

I was pretty surprised to see Rohach come in at 208. ESPNs recruiting profile had him at 185 in HS.

I think that whether DI redshirted or not is going to prove to be a moot point.

besides, if he had, we might not have beaten OSU--one knocked down pass, two times he flushed Weeden out of the pocket. I'll take that trade any day.

I was kind fo surprised at some of the shrinkage--like Lawry to 5'10" and Daley to 6'1"...along with the fact that Charlie Rogers didn't "shrink" at 6'1" 198.

    Paul Rhoads' players never quit.
    (They just disappear offseason)

There is no way to predict one way or the other that kind of stuff, but I just think that Irving would be 10 times more effective in a redshirt senior year than in his true freshman year. He definitely wasn't ready technique wise last year and is apparently still working on it at this exact moment. He is also working with playing with his added weight according to Coach Bray. All things that a redshirt year could have really helped.

And I'm not going to assume or expect anyone to go pro early when that has not happened pretty much ever at Iowa State.

My guess is that by the end of the year, we will consider him our best DE player. I think his talent will take over when the lights come on. Think....or hope.

In theory I think that is a great idea, but in practice I'm not so sure. Mostly from Irving's perspective and the fact that no matter what, he is the only 6'7 280 pound DE we have and is probably our most athletic DE.

I think we'll be alright with the guys we brought in since they will likely redshirt. We need some more players on the line in the next couple years with experience coming back.

I really doubt Irving wants to redshirt. He may react strongly.

Published sizes usually aren't very accurate.Dont dwell too much on them.
My Jr. year I was listed at 6' 1" and 212 lbs. Laughable.
I know its fun for you guys to discuss but realize that it is far from accurate.I'm
not going to go as far as saying that it is a mind game but certain coaches believe in
    certain aspects of psychology.

Excessive intake of alcohol, we all know, kills brain cells, but naturally it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers.
